The 8th gen consoles launched with 2x CPU cores reserved for the OS and background. - In the history of Consoles, the OS/Background tasks have gotten more demanding with each successive console generation.
Obviously as console generations progress there is some underlying optimizations done to the software stack, this holds true since consoles have had mandatory software updates. (7th gen and newer.)

Assuming Microsoft/Sony has auxiliary ARM cores to offload tasks is far-fetched when we have zero supportive evidence of whether that is the case.

@Bold Well lucky for Sony and Microsoft that they'll still be using the same OS for next generation ...

The PS4 has auxiliary ARM cores in them to offload background tasks so I see no reason why Sony couldn't expand the possibility to offload the entire OS as well and the same applies to Microsoft ...

4k is relevant now.

There are multiple consoles that have been chasing that market for a few years now.

Only 31% of the American households last year owned a 4K display. Other nations have arguably far lower penetration rates aside from possibly either South Korea and/or Japan ...

4K looks to be irrelevant at the start of next generation ...

AMD's Notebook APU's are on an older process, AMD's notebook power management is generally shit.
And to make matters worse... AMD hamstrung their notebook graphics with DDR4 2400mhz DRAM.

They had the potential to make a fantastic all-round package that could best Intel+nVidia low-end GPU combo.

Their notebook offerings could be better, they just aren't putting the effort into it for whatever reason... They are certainly in a better position than with their FX notebook chips, but still far from ideal.

AMD has a WSA with GF so they have to keep buying 12nm wafers from them until the end of 2021 ...

I wouldn't be surprised if AMD created their chiplet architecture just to get rid of those 12nm wafers ...

We don't know that for sure, there isn't any evidence to tell us what OS they are using for next-gen... Or for that matter "OS's". (As in plural, aka. Multiples.)

What the Playstation 4 has... Has absolutely zero bearing on what the Playstation 5 or the next Xbox will have... As again, we lack any evidence that disproves or substantiates the inclusion of auxiliary ARM cores.

Which makes 4k relevant.

31% is a very relevant piece of the home TV display pie, that is 10's if not 100's of millions of gamers to market towards.

Yeah... That doesn't make AMD's notebook GPU's good by any stretch of the imagination. - Nor is it my problem anyway.

I think we can verify with @JEMC since he's Spanish ...

Yep, you've done a very good with those translations.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the review has been done on an X470 motherboard with an early BIOS for the new processors, which might explain the high latency and it could mean that the actual performance could be even better, specially in applications like games.

Tim Sweeney: Epic Store games sale numbers are for sold copies, do not include funding money
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/tim-sweeney-epic-store-games-sale-numbers-are-for-sold-copies-do-not-include-funding-money/
These past few months, a number of developers have been sharing their sale numbers for their games that were released exclusively on the Epic Games Store. Understandably, some gamers have been wondering whether those sale numbers included the “funding” money that Epic Games had provided developers and publishers in order to secure their Epic Games Store exclusive deals. And a couple of days ago, Epic Games CEO, Tim Sweeney, shed some light on this matter.
According to Sweeney, the reported sale figures do not include the funding money that Epic Games had provided the various developers/publishers with.

Report: Fortnite made $203 million in May 2019, PUBG keeps selling millions of units
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/report-fortnite-made-203-million-in-may-2019-pubg-keeps-selling-millions-of-units/
SuperData Arcade has shared its monthly report, stating that Fortnite made $203 million across all platforms in May 2019. This number is significantly higher than the one for April but lower than the May 2018 sale figures.
SuperData also claims that FIFA Ultimate Team revenue declined year-over-year. The company estimates that FIFA in-game spending generated $93 million across console and PC in May, down from the same month last year, partly due to a tough comparison against the initial strength of the World Cup mode last May.
It’s also worth noting that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to sell millions of units. PUBG may have sold 4.7 million digital units across PC and console year-to-date through May, maintaining its position as one of the best selling shooter titles on any platform.

Steam is dropping support for Ubuntu, but not Linux entirely
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-is-dropping-support-for-ubuntu-but-not-linux-entirely/
The availability of Steam on Linux has been a boom for gaming on the platform, especially with the recent addition of the Steam Play compatibility layer for running Windows-only games. Valve has always recommended that gamers run Ubuntu Linux, the most popular desktop Linux distribution, but that's now changing.
Last Friday, a developer at Valve announced that Ubuntu Linux 19.10—which is due to come out this October—won't be supported by Steam. Valve is still supporting Linux, just not future versions of the Ubuntu operating system.
So why is Valve ditching the most popular Linux desktop OS? Canonical, the company that owns and develops Ubuntu, said last week that Ubuntu 19.10 will not include any 32-bit packages. That means applications that rely on any 32-bit libraries or drivers won't work, which includes a large amount of games on Steam. The actual Linux kernel still supports 32-bit software, but requires OS distributors like Ubuntu to develop and test the 32-bit components.

Nintendo takes down Mario Royale, new alpha version released without any Nintendo references
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nintendo-takes-down-mario-royale-new-alpha-version-released-without-any-nintendo-references/
Well, it was bound to happen. A few days ago, we informed you about a fan-made Mario game that turned Super Mario Bros into a battle royale game. As we predicted in that article, Nintendo would – sooner or later – shut down this fan game and yesterday its creator announced that he has received a DMCA letter from the big N.
Now while InfernoPlus has removed all Nintendo characters, levels and references from his fan game, he does intend to release a brand new version of it. This version will not feature any Nintendo characters, will have brand new art style and characters, and will be similar – in gameplay mechanics – with Mario Royale.
This new battle royale game is now called Infringio Royale or DMCA Royale, and its latest version is V2.0.0 alpha. InfernoPlus claimed that he and his team will try to fix the game over the next few days.

The amazing first-person mod for Mass Effect 2 finally lets you fight the Reapers via an FPS viewpoint
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-amazing-first-person-mod-for-mass-effect-2-finally-lets-you-fight-the-reapers-via-an-fps-viewpoint/
A few days ago, we informed you about a first-person mod for Mass Effect 2. Created by modder LordEmil1, this unofficial first-person mode let you explore the environments of Bioware’s game via a new perspective.
However, the mod was only meant to be used in order to explore the game’s environments and not for combat. After numerous demands for Combat support though, LordEmil1 released a brand new version that lets you fight the Reapers via a first-person camera viewpoint.
The modder stated that there are some major issues with the camera clipping through Shepard’s body and head that cannot be fixed. As such, you should consider this FPS combat mode an experimental mode and nothing more. Still, it’s really cool playing Mass Effect 2 this way so you should at least test it.

In its current state, the mod does not feature any NPCs, enemy encounters or quests. Still, the modder aims to further polish this early version by adding NPCs and new areas in future updates.
To play Fallout Miami Early Version, you will need the base Fallout 4 game and all the official DLCs. If you don’t own everything, the game won’t show objects used from the DLCs correctly.

Unfortunately, and with the exception of the alpha support for Oculus Quest, this new version of UnrealVR does not bring anything new to the table.

QT is like Kojima's P.T. except everything is cute and cuddly (but still very weird)
https://www.pcgamer.com/qt-is-like-kojimas-pt-except-everything-is-cute-and-cuddly-but-still-very-weird/
P.T.—Playable Teaser—was originally released by Konami in 2014 as a teaser for Silent Hills. That game was ultimately cancelled but P.T. took on a life of its own as a small, extremely creepy, slow-burn horror game. It was exclusive to the PS4 at the time, but numerous recreations have appeared on PC over the years, most of which have fallen victim to takedown notices courtesy of Konami.
QT is a little different. It takes place in a poorly-lit apartment that's obviously very similar to that of P.T., but everything inside it is, well, cute. It's not entirely without jump scares, but even those are cute: A rock thrown through a window might startle you (the first time, at least) but the rock has a warm, friendly smile and adorably stubby little legs, and the "look behind you" message sounds ominous but it's really not—it's just someone who wants to say hello.

https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-romance-options/
CD Projekt Red has said it's working to give players a ton of options when creating their characters in Cyberpunk 2077, including a range of gender expressions, and its lead quest designer has said these choices will mean way more romance options than the strictly heterosexual relationships featured in The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 will not have a morality system
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-will-not-have-a-morality-system/
CD Projekt will avoid trying to separate right from wrong as a game mechanic in Cyberpunk 2077 by simply not having a morality system at all. Choices will have consequences (it wouldn't be much of an RPG otherwise) but quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz told GamingBolt that grappling with the big philosophical questions of the universe—"Is it okay to kill people for money?" for instance—will be left entirely to the player and their conscience.

Warner Bros. boss says subscription-based gaming won't replace conventional purchases

The videogame industry is gearing up to take another run at streaming games, and with the muscle of companies like Google and Microsoft behind it, coupled with increased accessibility to broadband internet in general, it might actually work out this time. We said in March that in a broad sense, it's a race to become "the Netflix of games," which obviously implies a deeply disruptive impact on the videogame ecology as a whole. But Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad told VentureBeat that he sees the situation somewhat differently.

Totally Reliable Delivery Service open beta is like Goat Simulator crossed with UPS
https://www.pcgamer.com/total-reliable-delivery-service-open-beta-is-like-goat-simulator-crossed-with-ups/
The title of Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a lie, because the delivery service in question is not actually reliable at all. And not because the guy says he rang the doorbell but clearly he didn't because you were there all day, literally waiting for your package. No, it's because there are so many other, more interesting things to do, like going for hot air balloon rides and trying to launch underpowered boats off of water-ski ramps.

It's you versus a giant worm in free sci-fi adventure Fleshworms

Fleshworms. It's a great name for a sci-fi game, if a slightly inaccurate one, as you're only facing one wormy monster here. This is the third entry in Malte Burup's Tales From The Outer Zone series, a bunch of connected, short point and clicks set in a slightly pulpy, vaguely Moebius-y science fiction universe.

TaleSpire wants to be the digital tabletop roleplaying system of your dreams
https://www.pcgamer.com/talespire-wants-to-be-the-digital-tabletop-roleplaying-system-of-your-dreams/
TaleSpire is meant to be a freeform toolbox for roleplaying adventures that you build yourself. You have painted miniatures, terrain in which to move them around, and scary monsters for them to fight. As a dungeon master, you'll be able to design towns, dungeons, and whatever other settings you can imagine with a built-in set of tiles and components. When your heroes encounter evil things, you can tell them to roll for initiative, and they can throw pleasingly realistic dice to see where they wind up in the turn order.

Heavy Rain is out now on PC with a free demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/heavy-rain-is-out-now-on-pc-with-a-free-demo/
Quantic Dream's thriller Heavy Rain, formerly only available on PlayStation, has now launched a PC version. It's available now through the Epic Games Store with a free demo.
It's a David Cage game that features an emotionally shattered dad, a doughy private detective, a plucky journalist, and FBI agent as playable characters in a drama about a serial killer who targets young boys. As a game, it's more a piece of interactive fiction and storytelling, and Cage's idiosyncratic approach to game design has been the subject of no small number of memes.

Awesome.  I loathe simplistic hand-holding systems that tie your characters to black and while rules and "karma" is usually one of the worst.  That's not role-playing to me, that's just following someone else's choose-your-own-adventure bullet point list.  I understand that many people would rather follow the trails set forth by someone else's imagination rather than use their own but karma is usually just way too arbitrary and controlling.

Complete lack of any system is really not in RPG spirit - as someone who played quite a bit of D&D when I was in high school (back in 80s), alignment is really great way to get into character you've created and stick to his/her view of the world and not your own.

That said, it's not bad idea for game not to define what's right or wrong, but some sort of reputation among diferrent sort of people depending on your actions is desirable IMO.

Looks like Steam Summer Sale has finally begun.

I think that a good or bad system wouldn't work in this game, mostly because no one will be good, only more or less bad/evil. That said, there could be a system of sorts that takes into account the things you do and if they're necessary or not.

In any case, we alredy saw in the gameplay video from last year that the order in which we take the missions and the decisions we make have consequences that will make future missions easier or harder. And that's the ultimate goal of those moral systems.

And, as per tradition, Steam can't deal with all the traffic.
