You're right, I posted it on Friday from a DSO article. My bad.

Also, while I agree that polygons and textures won't last forever, I think they'll stay around far more than a couple of generations. First we'll have to wait for full Ray Tracing, and that will take a time.

In any case, you could already shoot an RPG to a tree in Crysis and see how it (quite realistically) fall into the ground, so it's not as much as a technical limitation rather than a limit in the money and time studios are allowed to use to achieve that.

Personally, I would prefer realistic worlds where, for example, you could enter any building you want (I have an axe or a machine gun but can't break a wooden door or a window to get inside until I find a key, if at all?).

Oh, no doubt about it, there are games that have destructible things, Red Faction Guerilla probably being my favourite among them. But that is not physics I want, limited cases on certain things in game world.

In your example, door in voxel based world, where materials behave like their real world counterparts, doesn't have any special case physics applied to it. It just is. So depending on what you use on it, it will abide the laws of physics of that world and react accordingly. Every piece of it that is broken, will keep on reacting. Just like every piece of that world will abide to those laws. I don't think polygon based worlds will ever be able to achieve that...at least not on any significant scale.

Oh, I have no doubt you wouldn't be able to get all those things with the actual tech, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy it even if the physics behind it don't behave as they should.

In any case, for both of us to have what we want, we'll have to wait quite a bit.

Please excuse my bad English.

The Humble Hot Date Bundle is packed with dating sims and 'suggestive party games'
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-humble-hot-date-bundle-is-packed-with-dating-sims-and-suggestive-party-games/
Looking for something to do tonight? How about a hot date? Or how about a Hot Date Bundle, the latest collection of "visual novels, dating sims, and suggestive party games" from the bundlers over at Humble? For $1, you can have Creature Romances: Kokonoe Kokoro, Highway Blossoms, and Just Deserts—and no, that's not a typo, it's a "sci-fi action dating sim" about an alien invasion and the women of your dreams that takes place in a desert.
But that's a pretty cheap date. Bump it up to beat-the-average and you'll also take home the sex game stalwart Ladykiller in a Bind, the feline seduction sim Purrfect Date, and Genital Jousting, the popular party game about dicks. For a tenner, you'll get into the deeper exotica of G-senjou no Maou—The Devil on G-String Voiced Edition and Sunrider Collection, both of which are partially voiced in Japanese, and for $15 you'll top it all off with Clannad, a tale of life, friendship, and the struggle to find meaning in life through the high school drama club.

Nothing about this Mount & Blade crossover mod makes sense
https://www.pcgamer.com/nothing-about-this-mount-and-blade-crossover-mod-makes-sense/
I don't know where to start when it comes to Paradigm Worlds, a mod for Mount & Blade: Warband. Here's a trailer. The trailer is actually 4,000 screenshots strung together. I don't know why. It's perhaps appropriate, though, as the mod itself is in fact many different mods—and universes—flung together.
Here's a snippet of the summary:
Steampunk conspiring againt XV century Europe, Aliens fighting Djiniis, Orc fighting Morloks, Uruks fighting agains Alien Pirates! Swords, Axes, Lightsabers, Flintlock, Laser Cannons, Plasma Blasters, Arqebusiers, Blunderbuses...
Why not?
Fighting over the multiverse are different factions and sub-factions made up from bits of pop culture and history squashed together, so you've got Soviet Steampunks fighting Nazi-Knights, and Jedi-Samurai duelling creatures who came from a Middle-earth where Sauron won.

HITMAN 2 runs significantly faster in DX12, 15-40fps increase in CPU/RAM-limited scenarios
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/hitman-2-runs-significantly-faster-in-dx12-15-40fps-increase-in-cpu-ram-limited-scenarios/
When Hitman 2 originally came out, we were really disappointed by its PC version. Contrary to the first Hitman game, Hitman 2 had very limited graphics settings, did not support DX12 and lacked a benchmark tool. Thankfully, and since then, IO Interactive has been constantly improving it, and released yesterday a patch that added support for DirectX 12. As such, we’ve decided to benchmark DX12 and see whether the game runs better with it.

Guess what, this is the part 2 of the news:

Myst studio reveals a new 'steampunk-magic' adventure called Firmament
https://www.pcgamer.com/myst-studio-reveals-a-new-steampunk-magic-adventure-called-firmament/
Today the studio returned to the crowdfunding well once more with a campaign for its new game, first teased a year ago, called Firmament. It will be "deeply rooted in the spirit of Myst, Riven, and Obduction"—that's what Cyan does, after all—but has a more overtly steampunk vibe, and instead of being off alone in a strange world you'll be accompanied by "a clockwork adjunct" that looks a bit like a Destiny 2 Ghost but without the ability to speak. It does understand you, however, and over the course of the game your communication will evolve into "a complex symphony of actions as you solve challenges together and begin to understand the epic nature of what lies ahead."

Othercide promises a stylish blend of turn-based tactics and monochrome horrors

If an XCOM-style horror game with a dash of Nier: Automata sounds like something you'd like to check out, then you might want to take a look at Othercide, a game that promises to more-or-less fit that description that's headed to Steam Early Access later this year. Set in a corrupt, monochromatic dimension that exists outside of our reality, the game pits a group of mystical warriors known as the Daughters against hordes of nightmare creatures intent on humanity's destruction.

New Sekiro mod unlocks framerate, adds FOV options & more without modifying any game files
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/new-sekiro-mod-unlocks-framerate-adds-fov-options-more-without-modifying-any-game-files/
Last week, we informed you about a mod that could unlock the framerate in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. That mod relied on Steamless, a tool that could very well ban users from playing the game as PC gamers had to modify the executable file. Thankfully, modder ‘uberhalit’ released a new mod that can do the same thing without the need to modify any game files.
What this basically means is that this new mod is compatible with every game version and will not get you banned for using it. In other words, it is similar to pretty much all the other “safe” mods that have been released so far for Sekiro.
The “Sekiro Fps Unlock And More” mod removes the frame rate limit, adds custom resolutions with 21/9 widescreen support, increases field of view (FOV) (credits go to jackfuste who was responsible for the first FPS unlock mod) and adds a borderless window mode for Sekiro. This mod accomplishes the aforementioned tweaks by patching the game’s memory while running, and as we’ve already said it does not modify any game files.
>> Get this mod from Nexus Mods.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II gets an ESRGAN AI-enhanced Texture Pack
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/star-wars-jedi-knight-dark-forces-ii-gets-an-esrgan-ai-enhanced-texture-pack/
Modder ‘TreeMarmot’ has released an ESRGAN AI-enhanced Texture Pack for the classic 1997 first-person game based on the Star Wars universe, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. According to the modder, this texture pack is intended for use by mod authors as a base for their own high-resolution re-texture projects.
Now while this intended to be a base for other re-texture projects, PC gamers can go ahead and use it (as it is) in order to improve the game’s visuals. However, the modder notes that the textures in this pack are quite raw and that most of them have artifacts from the upscaling process, which in a complete effort should be manually removed by an artist.
>> If, despite the problems it has, you still want this mod, get it from ModDB.

Just saw Warcraft on GOG, seriously at this rate the whole Blizzard catalogue will be available on GOG. Too bad they'll never release the Diablo 1 expansion, though. Blizzard hated it and considered it a breach of trust from Sierra, mostly due to the inclusion of a barbarian class which breaks canon and which Blizzard specifically forbid to be included.

Who else here played WarCraft 1 before?
