The Humble Sonic Bundle has 12 games and zero ridiculous hairy legs
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-humble-sonic-bundle-has-12-games-and-zero-ridiculous-hairy-legs/
Last week, we got our first-ever look at the deeply disturbing legs of Sonic the Hedgehog as he will appear in the live-action film that was announced in May. This week, to help you get over that visual agony, the Humble Store has launched a new bundle of games featuring the go-fast blue hedgehog—with appropriately skinny limbs.
At the $1 level, you'll get Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic CD, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, Sonic Adventure 2, and the Sonic Adventure 2: Battle DLC. Beat the average, which is currently heading toward the $7 mark, and you'll add Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection, Sonic: Lost World, Sonic Generations Collection, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2. And finally, if you top out at $15, you'll finish the collection with Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces.
Steam Winter Sale start date confirmed, Steam Award nominees announced

Valve has announced the final list of nominees for the 2018 Steam Awards, and has also confirmed that the Steam Winter Sale, as rumored yesterday, will begin on December 20.
First things first: The shortlist! The categories for 2018 are somewhat more grounded than they have been in previous years—no trying to figure out what the hell "Mom's Spaghetti" means, for instance.

Indie digital storefront Itch.io joins the Winter Sale festivities
https://www.pcgamer.com/indie-digital-storefront-itchio-joins-the-winter-sale-festivities/
GOG's Winter Sale started last week, and Steam's will begin later this week. But today, it's time for Itch.io, the home of experimental indie stuff (and maybe a few games you might have already heard of) to kick off a seasonal sale of its own.
As it sometimes is with Itch.io's seasonal sales, it's not the most distinctively organized collection of bargains you'll ever see. Sagebrush, for instance, is on sale until December 27, which is when the Winter Sale is scheduled to end. But Rodina, which shares the top row on the sale page, is only discounted until December 23, while Walden—also top row—is on until January 3.
At Fanatical, the Star Deal is Starbound, 41% off for the next 24 hours: https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/starbound

A new Steam beta update hints at more cross-play with Xbox
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-new-steam-beta-update-hints-at-more-cross-play-with-xbox/
The barriers to cross-platform multiplayer are slowly being eroded away, with even the previously stubborn Sony finally acquiescing. It’s increasingly prevalent between Xbox One and PC, especially, with both platforms already sharing Xbox Live. Microsoft games like Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4 and Gears of War 4 all feature cross-platform multiplayer. In many cases, using the loathed Microsoft store is still necessary, but a Steam beta update suggests that might cease to be the case.
Spotted on GitHub and reposted on ResetEra, the code references Xbox network features and hints at possible closer links between Steam and Xbox Live. It’s worth noting, however, that there’s already cross-platform support between the two platforms for games like Killer Instinct. These Windows 10 games feature on both the Microsoft Store and Steam, while more recent ones, like Sea of Thieves, are Microsoft Store exclusives.

This HD Texture Pack for Doom upscales the textures via AI Neural Networks and looks incredible
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-hd-texture-pack-for-doom-upscales-the-textures-via-ai-neural-networks-and-looks-incredible/
Created by Doomworld’s member ‘hidfan’, this HD Texture Pack uses AI NeuralNetworks in order to improve all of the game’s textures. According to the modder, all textures and sprites have been upscaled 8X (with tons of AI artefacts), and then downscaled to a final 2X to restore a pixel art look. Now since there were a lot of AI artefacts, a lot of the HD and improved textures have been manually cleaned and all transparency masks were manually enhanced.
The end result is a HD Texture Pack that looks as close to the original material as it can possibly be. And since we’ll never ever get an official HD Texture Pack for this classic shooter, I strongly suggest at least testing it.
