Forums - Microsoft - Unity enters deal with Microsoft for Xbox One, W8 platform support

So only the PS4 will be lacking free Unity? I see many Wii U and Xbone crossovers on the horizon.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Well, expected. Unity is available for almost every platform out there.

Oh Golly, Superchunk and Walsufir finally meet together!  (Prepares for epic Cartman Battle!)

It's pretty amazing, they have unified Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and the Xbox One for easy porting.  Makes me wonder if the next versions will not be Windows 9, but Windows One.

And I thought it was big when they announced Windows for ARM.

This won't be a battle, it'd be a massacre for chunk ;)

Well the article says developers having their game published by MS get to use it free.

So that's an incentive to having your game published by MS as opposed to any other company.

Thanks, so lots of indie games for all! Doesnt seem like it's free for the PS systems, though.

True but to get it free you have to be published by MS or Nintendo, which means your games then exclusive to there platform anyway, so getting it free elsewhere after that is mute.

well thats cool

Unity is great engine for the cost, im sure it will support ps4 before long as well.

What is unity?

A game engine.

I guess indie developers will be able to use it for free when putting games on MS platforms. Could be interesting.

No true you can make some great stuff with the free version that you could release for a price. I have a few friends that are working on some unity gams with the free versions and their games look great as am I. Though when I get the money i will upgrade to pro.

But, but, but I thought Microsoft was supposed to hate Indies?  Could people out there be lying about that?

PS I like the Indy Game Solar 2 if you like playing with plants, stars 'n stuff.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!
