One is a great phone. S4 has its advantages but Touchwiz is really really poor compared to the Sense. I'd pick the One and wouldn't worry about the camera. You get way more storage out of the box for less too. If you pick the S4 I bet after a month you will be searching the forums for issues.

If you are in US then One Google Edition is an even better option.

I could get a grip on both and I have to say the One just seems to be way more worthy. Its build-quality is amazing and it feels just right. Galaxy S4 is also fast but the quality-feel isn't on par with HTC One. And lol at the Z-recommendations ;)

The quality feel isnt really an issue with the S4...its not like its more prone to breaking or something. Its just a preference thing.

Also the Xperia Z is an amazing phone. Reviewers nitpick a lot but having actually had the phone in my hand and comparing against the S4 and the HTC One it holds its on.

Theres a shit lot of complaints about the Xperia Z's screen...but ive yet to see a sharper/clearer/crisper display on any mobile phone period. It's a dam shame people get hung up on viewing angles.

I didn't say the Z is a bad smartphone but i lol'd because it was totally expected given to brand-loyalty some people here would recommend it :)

I wouldn't buy any of these because in my opinion all 3 are too big for me, anyway. Personally I didn't ever see such a crisp display as the one's, especially considering it has a super lcd 3 and even more ppi.

I'm not, the Play Store won't even allow me in.

Launchers apparently will give me an experience that closely resembles pure Android.

For looks, yes. The skins go much deeper than that, most of the issues won't go away with a launcher (One doesn't have much issues though, really).

The Z is a worth recommendation. Doesnt really matter who is recommending it.

Hold the two phones side by side....the Z has a sharper crisper image. Higher pixel density or not.

I don't know anyone who has this phone but I read some reviews, including this one: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_vs_xperia_z-review-917p3.php

Many say the display in HTC One is better but who cares anyway. Personal preference will be the main reason for buying.

I know. I must have read every review on all these phones on the internet.

But i dont know...looking at both phones in person(side by side) the Z has a sharper/crisper display...it doesnt necessarily means its a better display overall.

Maybe because its a bigger screen more detail is visible?

Whoa. Noticing some wrong info in the thread Moreno. You should have a look at reviews of the phones on youtube or popular review sites. You will find that most of the phones you are thinking of getting are top phones which won't disappoint.

There are small differences between the phones...so identify what is more important for you and go for what suites you best.

You own the HTC one, correct?

Is it as customizable as the S4? How nice is the software function wise? Since its Android it supports all the same Apps as the Galaxy S4?

Yes, got the HTC one for a few days now. I like it but its not perfect. No deal breakers though.

Yes all the apps are supported between the two phones. Software features are pretty good on the HTC One but i think the S4 has a shit load of value added software features...some are useless but they are there none the less.

Its a tough decision really. And since you are okay with iOS the iPhone 5 or 5s is probably quite enticing to you as well.

But for a safe bet...i would go with either the S4 or the next iPhone.

If you feeling adventurous then just randomly pick one I dont think you can go wrong between the 3 of them.

Just another thing you need to know about the HTC One is that the camera is really subpar....as good as the lowlight performance is i dont think it makes up for its general shittyness. At the end of the day its a 4mp camera and it will be a downgrade from your iPhone4S. So if camera is something you value then I wouldnt go for the HTC One.

People also like to bash the iPhone but the only negative about the iPhone is the OS for me...if it was optimised for android id buy it in a heartbeat

Unfortunately, that's because we're all trained to think the more mega pixels the better.  Bottom line is more rides on the image sensor (that actually captures light) as well as the lense (maybe not so much for cell phones).  The HTC has a bigger image sensor which is supposed to make a world of difference.  I haven't used it personally (I have the S3), but I'm saying don't dismiss it just because of lack of "megapixels".

Do you remember those original Mars rover pictures that were taken a while back?  The panoramic shot?  AMAZING shot.  That was a 1 (yes ONE) Megapixel camera.  The image sensor and lense cost MILLIONS of dollars though.  I believe the newest Mars rover is only 2 Megapixel.  Again, the image sensor will be huge and expensive, allowing more distinguishable light to be captured.  Just sayin...

Granted some of the Mars stuff was capped due to limited bandwidth too.

No i understand that. I did quite a lot of research into the HTC One camera and I did not dismiss it.

But now that i have actually bought the phone and taken pictures with it in multiple scenarios I can withouth a doubt say that the camera is subpar. Low light performance is good but the image quality is lacking. Sorry bro i dunno how else to describe it :/

Hey no problem I believe you!  I just thought maybe you were assuming some stuff too.  Well I guess at the end of the day, it would be nice to have the better / bigger image sensor AND the megapixel rendering capability.  But my guess is the image senesor cost them a slight premium, causing them to have to skimp on the megapixels keep the phone cost down.

The trend toward better sensors is for the better ultimately though.  Most camera phones have sucked in low light.
