So you won't consider an Iphone at all?
One of the biggest disadvantages of both the S4 and HTC One is that their battery life isn't that great. It drains quite fast at least in comparison to the Iphone 5 or even the Note 2. And to fully charge both phones takes around 3 hours! On the other hand the Iphone 5 charges faster and takes around 1hr 45min.

Hmmm, my galaxy s3 last longer than my friends Iphone5.  Then again, I don't know if the S4 has better or worse battery life, although I do know the battery has a better capacity on the S4.

I can easily get 12+ hours on my over 1 year old battery in my S3.  It all really depends what you use a phone for.   Use your phone primarily as a GPS device for the day, and you'd be lucky to get 4-5 hours.  Hardly touch it, 24+ hours.  The iphone5 OS might be SLIGHTLY more efficient at sipping battery as often as possible, but the batteries on the S3/4 are just much bigger capacity.

The thing is, as much as I like the iProducts, I have already owned and iPhone 4S and an iPod 3rd Gen, and I have seen the iPhone 5.

I think I'm ready for something new.

Whoa. Noticing some wrong info in the thread Moreno. You should have a look at reviews of the phones on youtube or popular review sites. You will find that most of the phones you are thinking of getting are top phones which won't disappoint.

There are small differences between the phones...so identify what is more important for you and go for what suites you best.

You own the HTC one, correct?

Is it as customizable as the S4? How nice is the software function wise? Since its Android it supports all the same Apps as the Galaxy S4?

Yes, got the HTC one for a few days now. I like it but its not perfect. No deal breakers though.

Yes all the apps are supported between the two phones. Software features are pretty good on the HTC One but i think the S4 has a shit load of value added software features...some are useless but they are there none the less.

Its a tough decision really. And since you are okay with iOS the iPhone 5 or 5s is probably quite enticing to you as well.

But for a safe bet...i would go with either the S4 or the next iPhone.

If you feeling adventurous then just randomly pick one I dont think you can go wrong between the 3 of them.

Just another thing you need to know about the HTC One is that the camera is really subpar....as good as the lowlight performance is i dont think it makes up for its general shittyness. At the end of the day its a 4mp camera and it will be a downgrade from your iPhone4S. So if camera is something you value then I wouldnt go for the HTC One.

People also like to bash the iPhone but the only negative about the iPhone is the OS for me...if it was optimised for android id buy it in a heartbeat

Actually, after reading about it, I'm heavily considering the HTC One. I prefer integrated memory more than removable SD cards, I like the speakers, it has all the advantages of Android and has a very nice design. I'm practically on the edge.

Is the camera really that average? I'm not a dedicated photographer or anything, but I do like some nice quality in my pictures.

I could get a grip on both and I have to say the One just seems to be way more worthy. Its build-quality is amazing and it feels just right. Galaxy S4 is also fast but the quality-feel isn't on par with HTC One. And lol at the Z-recommendations ;)

I disagree about the camera on the HTC one.  I personally think it's better than the iphone 4s and is pretty close to parity with the iphone 5.  Yes it is not as great as it could be but I've heard it takes some pretty awesome night pictures.

We gonna have to agree to disagree here.

I have both the 4S and the HTC One in my posession and ive done the comparisons...it does not bode well for the HTC One. My GS2 sometimes even manages to best it. Lowlight performance is awesome..sure, but even then the picture quality is sorely lacking. Its a 4mp camera. Theres nothing that can make up for that resolution...

The quality feel isnt really an issue with the S4...its not like its more prone to breaking or something. Its just a preference thing.

Also the Xperia Z is an amazing phone. Reviewers nitpick a lot but having actually had the phone in my hand and comparing against the S4 and the HTC One it holds its on.

Theres a shit lot of complaints about the Xperia Z's screen...but ive yet to see a sharper/clearer/crisper display on any mobile phone period. It's a dam shame people get hung up on viewing angles.
