Ensuring its dominance all over the world, The Last of Us from Naughty Dog placed first in the Japanese sales charts between June 17th and 23rd, 2013, with an estimated 117,465 copies sold, according to Media Create. This number was far and above the second place game, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, which pushed out just over 42,000 units.

Taking a look at system totals, the PlayStation Vita was at 13,422, PS3 was at 9,816, and the PSP managed 5,091. All these systems were dwarfed by the 3DS though, which saw healthy sales of 43,269.

Here’s the top 10 selling games in Japan for the week ending June 23rd, 2013:

You forget to mention that Vita took over 360 lifetime sales.

Naughty dog is one of the veeery few developers that has any kind of success in Japan. Correct me if im wrong, but their Crash Bandicot was the only western game/s to sell over million copies over there

I think Luigi's Manson for 3ds which was dev in Canada sold over one million. But that doesn't really count since its not a western game.

Probably doesn't happen very often (if at all), but the 1 and 2 games in Japan are both Western developed (LoU and DKCR).

That's pretty kool. I wasn't expectin' a US game to dominate in Japan. Way kool. ^_^

oh wow, first DK not TLoU! Gooooo US! or maybe Not In Japan lol! TLoU should be the highest selling game this year in about 3 or 4 weeks! Luigi Had the spotlight but #2 aint bad lol
