Forums - Website Topics - VGC needs to pull an XB1

This website was like the XB1 with all its restrictions and policies. Just like how I wouldn't support the XB1 with those in place I will not support this site.

Examples:

Can't call out users who are so paranoid they think every Sony fan is out to get them and flat out say every Sony fan is a liar.

Can't bring up someone's posting history... because apparently that's calling them stupid.

Can't call someone who is being ignorant, ignorant... Sorry guys, but there is nothing wrong with calling a duck a duck. It was clearly obvious the ones I called ignorant were in fact being ignorant. If I were to make a thread right now saying that MS was lying to all of you and they will still enforce DRM and ignore every bit of evidence provided to support that isn't the case then I would expect to be called similar things. The fact that you can't call people out but people can be willingly ignorant and intentionally spread news they know is down right wrong is just hilarious.

Can't mention a user by name in the same thread they are posting in.

Can't tell someone you reported them. But hey, it's okay to post off topic comments making fictitious sweeping generalizations of an entire group of people

Funny thing, I appealed multiple bans... And the response I got? Well, axumblade said people need to grow thicker skin and he wouldn't have reported me for calling them ignorant. As for getting banned for bringing up someone's post history, "Now that the incident is in the past, I can notate in your history to disregard previous ban if you would like." (something he already had to do before after I was banned for calling the paranoid user out).

You might say, "well, at least they are being corrected." True, but the fact they are happening to begin with is absurd.

So, in conclusion the VGC mod team needs to go back to the drawing board and reevaluate their polices like MS did with the XB1.

Look VGC, I don't want to leave the community because I enjoy this site for the most part. However, at the same time I don't want to be banned for telling users they are talking out of their behinds when in fact they are talking out of their behinds. There really is no way to sugar coat that (in fact its already sugar coated) and when someone is making a post that makes sweeping generalizations about Sony fans being liars or hypocrites or will be hypocrites in a thread about XB1 features and doesn't even get a warning... there is something wrong

You can do all of those. Just depends on how you do it.

Reason for my last ban "First off, don't say "reported" when you report someone, simply report them and move on." so obviously, no you can't. If this wasn't an issue it wouldn't be noted.

Reported for being not as cool as the Max we remembered from 2008..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Again its how you did it. Not that you told them you reported them. However, what's the point of telling them anyways.

Well just saying "Reported" and not being on topic might of been the reason.

I say "Reported" and usually say something related to the topic on hand.

Gotta work around the system.

It was my topic lol... And hilarious thing about who I reported... this was the post

@starcraft, I couldn't agree more. I think they see x1 and Wii U as a real threat or they wouldn't be doing everything they could to talk people out of it.

Never liked MS but I don't try to convince others my opinion of them is the only valid one. You really only see that from one group. The minute Sony announces DRM, they will think it is the greatest thing ever. Look how they hated Live last gen but now that Sony is copying Live fees, they haven't once thought about supporting a company that still offers online gaming for free..

LOL at bolded. BTW - the thread wasn't about DRM or Live fees or Sony fans

This rule is out there because users like VGKing would say reported in a thread multiple times.  It is annoying and pointless.  It basically is spam.

Also you shouldn't be calling users ignorant as it is a flaming opinion.  If you really want to call someone out do it in a private message and stay reasonable. I'm well aware of your post history and you have a lot of posts that are very opinionated and yes people will get annoyed with that.  You are blaming mods for trying to keep peace simply because you yourself are unable to contribute to a peaceful community as you are constantly on the offensive.

You can call out users, I have done it many times. It depends how you do it.

You can bring up someones post history, I have done it many times. Bring up a specific post, though... Dont just say "lol, your post history suggests otherwise". Show them for being a hypocrite, dont just show the negativity.

You can call someone ignorant, you just need to explain why they are ignorant to whatever it is youre debating.

Telling someone you reported them is pointless, because it only leads to the person you reported getting annoyed at you. I think it is essentially baiting, so I dont do it. Could also be classed as spam if you just say "Reported". Its petty and pointless, reports are anonymous for a reason. Telling someone you reported them has nothing at all to do with the topic at hand.

The mod team here is the best its been in Years.

I woulod like to know when I'm reported because I think everyone has the right to face their accuser and be able to address what they are being accused of (Exactly like the US justice system). Mods have a bad tendancy of not looking at context at all and just banning. I was called out for calling Cerny queer... you know the word that means (and if he doesn't match the following I don't know who would)

  • 1 not usual: not usual or expected
  • 2 eccentric: eccentric or unconventional
  • If I were to be reported I bet I would have been banned for that because ignorance... which shouldn't happen... but does (obviously appealing 3 bans is proof)

Telling someone that they are ignorant isnt really flaming.

Being ignorant is essentially lacking knowledge on a specific subject. If to say someone is ignorant is flaming, then to say "You dont know what youre talking about" is flaming. Calling someone a fuckhead is flaming.

We are all ignorant on something. We are not all fuckheads.
