Forums - Gaming - The PS4 Controller Is The Definitive Controller For Gen8?

The XB1 controller is barely different than the 360 controller. The only reason the 360 controller is different than the XBox controller is because that beast was designed for cave trolls. Only Nintendo innovates their UI with every generation. No one else really cares.

So a gen4 controller in gen 8? It still works, doesn't it?

Yeah, while the touchpad and the more ergomic shape and size are nice, its disappointing we're still using dual analogue in the 8th gen. Feels like a step backwards. At least PSMove and the Wiimote are still supported, lets hope devs used them.

I suppose this is an appropriate place for this.

DS4 is bigger than DS3 mainly due to fitting a decent size touch pad on.

DS4 looks like it will make FpS handling garbage..Did it really need a share button?.....And not sure where tough pad gaming is going...

I know but I m slow to adopt new things. As for light bar I m skeptical that it will be eyesore after a few minutes. Touchpad just dont work for gaming, or at least in my android mobile which have issues to play games like gta 3: 10 year anniversary. As for speaker I play usually in headset so it might be no use for me. Dont get me wrong. I still like ps4 over xbox one but I dont like these options.

The PS4 controller is a gimmick.

I'm fine with the touch pad and light bar and all that as long as it doesn't drive up the cost. That being said if I had a choice I wouldn't want a touch pad.

Right, and you're the most bias unreasonable person when it comes to PS products. As I recall you from the "next big thing in gaming" thread where you called the PS Eye tech fake and I showed you a link proving you were wrong and you never commented back in the thread. Must've felt really dumb, eh?

And here you are downplaying the PS4's controller. Why am I not surprised?

Anyways, I look forward to trying the DS4 and Xbox One's controllers for myself, both look sexy.

Bungie seems to like it fairly well.

Ditto. Was "Start. Share" a hard combination? I like the idea but a dedicated button is overkill.

Actually comparing side-by-side changes my opinion. That XB1 controller looks horrible. The DS4 is two pistol-grips joined at the hip. The XB1 is grabbing batarang-shaped brick. Not look comfy.

Eh. It's still better than the XB1 Brick. It's a tablet, which is awkward by nature--I actually really liked the original Cafe design, which was more like a PSP screen grafted into a proper controller. At least it has a ridge on the underside specifically to tell you where to put your fingers.

In terms of pure ergonomics,  DS4 > Wii U > XB1.
