I have a brain too... that's why I'm more inclined to believe developers over a random forum poster.

Right, no need to be skeptical. Just believe the people working exclusively with Nintendo. We are never mislead by people in the industry.

Carry on.

Except that much of what they've stated pans out with what others have as well - many of which know a lot more about tech than you or I.

I'll form my own conclusions from the people who are in the know rather than those who choose to dismiss them because it doesn't suit their preference.

Sorry, but whether they were working exclusively with Nintendo or not, I'll take their word over yours, thanks. They never claimed that the Gamecube was a more powerful console than the Xbox, just that it had some advantages over it as the official specs also state, such as the Flipper's ability to do 8 textures per pass to the Xbox's 4 per pass, in addition to other points like the GC's specialized instruction set, better front side bus bandwidth and more cache.

What? The origional Xbox could do 8 textures per pass maybe via loop back.

As for the Ram, The Xbox needs to use 16Mb of the 64Mb for just the Z-buffer, On the gamecube that's implemented in hardware at no cost, so the amount of memory each console has actually ends up very similar.

I LOVE this topic :)

I owned them all, and have huge GC-fanboy tinted specs. But HONESTLY, some of the games I saw running on Xbox couldn't be done on GC.

Chronicles of Riddic was just stunning.

They were very close though, and both at PS2 for breakfast. Even the best PS2 games don't come close to the heights of the GC/Xbox

Silent Hill 3, MGS3, FFXII, GT4 and GoW2 shows that PS2 was not too far from GC and Xbox.

Played booth games many times, I consider Silent Hill 3 on PS2 prettier than RE remake on Cube.

There's not a single character model on any PS2 game that comes close to REmake's characters. I consider your eyes faulty.

Interesting. Everything I've ever read stated that it was 4 per pass, and I swear even Wikipedia had it labeled as that last time I checked (which admittedly was a long time ago).

I never said that the Xbox wasn't a more powerful console overall, I'm just not quick to dismiss what devs such as Factor 5 have stated just because they were working with Nintendo. You seem to know a bit about tech, so in your opinion would you say that the GC had any advantages over the Xbox? What about the GC's supposed higher poly counts, added instruction set or the Xbox's low FSB clock? I've heard many people state that the Cube did have its advantages when it came to real world performance.

Xbox is GPU is capable of more polygons and it has more RAM. Just saying and deal with it!

Also, if we could actually find the max poly counts of games that would make this discussion more interesting.

I believe the article you're citing is old. Its only discussing early Gamecube and Xbox games.

In general, Xbox had more powerful hardware, so on the average games had fancier graphics on the original XB. However, when it came to some of the best looking games of that gen, on any system, hands down, Gamecube was king. Games like Metroid Prime, Pikmin, the RE games, and Twilight Princess especially, all looked a LOT better than most Xbox games. Of course it could probably be argued that overall the absolute top one or two best looking Xbox games were probably "better" graphics overall. Then again, PS2 had, in games like Shadow of the Colossus or even God of War, held it's own. But for my money, for 2006, I was blown away by how good TP looked. I would love to see an HD remake of that, though for the time being, I'd much rather the new (hopefully epic) HD Zelda just have a similar art style.

I'm not just citing one specific article but multiple things I have read, including that the newer instruction set added to Gekko gives the GC a poly advantage (or, at the very least, parity) with the Xbox, and regarding RAM, read Pemalite's response - they are about even in that area too when it comes to performance.

And exclaiming "Deal with it!" doesn't make you right or more informed, lol. I'll wait for a response from Pemalite, Zarx, or Viper on the matter, kthx.

Indeed it had, and you gave some great examples. However, I always cared more about 3rd party games, regardless of the platform, and the games like SC, Riddick and Morrowind are some that are definitely tipping the scales toward Xbox for me.
