Forums - Gaming - All that extra power won't make 3rd party games look better on PS4 than Xbone.

This is stupid, however most of the people buy Playstation for its exclusive games and experiences only which is memorable things in our life unlike Microsoft who relies mostly on DLC and shooters which is just for Short term multiplier fun as long as servers stays alive.

Lol this sounds just like a aww forget it.

Oh I can remember like it was just yesterday when devs stated the ps3 and 360 versions of a game were supposedly "on par" with each other and we all know how that went many times ◔_◔

How did it go?

Dude...MS wont stop a third party game from coming just because the PS4's graphics was better. Its about exclusive content coming out of the box. I bet they won't pull that crap on their gamers on account of Destiny getting exclusive content on the PS4.

Now that you mention it, aren't AC4 and Watch Dogs getting an hour's worth of extra content on PS4? How does that fit in with this?

The ps4 has a 50% better gpu and you just can't say that they are on par because of esram and other stuff because you can't magically make up for the difference in pixel and texel output. The ps4 has double the rops vs the xbone.  Here is an image that closely depicts the difference between the 2. And cut the cloud computing bs (3rd party isn't using that anytime in the near future) and esram/move engine crap cause those are there to get closer to the gddr5 ram of the ps4. Both are using similar if not the same cpu and both have dedicated video/audio processing chips as stated by Mark Cerny, and Major Nelson.

Hmmm if I remember correctly for ex. Crysis 2 the ps3 version had a lower frame rate, resolution than the 360 version and even oppositely in some games the 360 would be similar as well.

It goes sideways, but in most cases is the result of a bad port.

You can make up for the difference. It's called the "infinite power of the cloud". BELIEVE!

I'm not sure if it's true, but from what I've read, ps4 is the easier platform to develop on now, so I'd expect games to be made on ps4 and ported to One.

Made on PC, for PC, and ported to consoles is my guess.

Why would you think that when this whole generation it hasn't been true?

Just the existence of dev kits says you're wrong.

The new Dark Souls and Watchdogs both have PC as their lead platform. Since it's so easy to port to consoles now, I can't really see the downside of using PC as lead platform.

Then again, I'm not a developer.

Darks souls 2 is really lead platform on PC? That's odd considering the first one got ported over a year later on PC and the port was bad.

This simply outlines that microsoft has the power to deny e3rd party content which is inferior to another console platform. IT doesn't necessarily mean they will act on it. Look to assassins creed, has exclusive playstation content but microsoft would't dare penalise Ubi.

Indeed, I hope I'm wrong. I want 3rd parties to use whatever resources they can and have in thier disposal, whether that's more on PS4 or Xbone doesn't matter. But this seems a tad bit similar to current gen.
