Forums - Gaming - All that extra power won't make 3rd party games look better on PS4 than Xbone.

Because of M$'s release policy, which states:

"Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available. If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360."

So basically if the game leverages the extra power of the other platform to have better features or look better, M$ won't allow it on their platform. This is just sad. I hope 3rd parties really stand up for themselves and call BS on this since they are the ones who wanted all the extra power, but sadly that probably won't be the case and we will be stuck with identical 3rd party games for both platforms even if one platform is superior than the other. The only way this could change is if PS4 greatly outsold the Xbone, but we will have to see.

Way off and completely false.  You and I must be reading something completely different.

1.  Features and/or content does not equal graphics.

2. Microsoft reserving the right does not mean they will exercise the right, even in cases where content/features WERE different (for example a Wii U verson of a game with gamepad screen features).

This is not surprising, although after a couple of years. I expect developers to produce better versions of their games on PS4 because of DDR5 but also more RAM available to play with.

Also, for content. Red Dead Redemption and LA noire came with extra content on PS3. It's similar for loads of other games too. Like in Battlefield 3, the 1st DLC was free for PS3 owners

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Ubisoft games on Sony platforms have exclusive content

Still find it hard to believe MS built essentially a gaming rig and didnt put in GDDR5 for graphics, Any PC build enthusiast would laugh you out of the room for making a PC without a GDDR5 graphics card. Can really tell MS are not a hardware company.

Oww the arrogance .. another bullet in their own legs ...

But then again, it doesn't say anything about graphics, resolution or framerate, does it ?

So what you should really have titled your post is "XBOX One just isn't going to have the amount of exclusives as the PS4 (again)"  But in reality this will just mean fewer smaller downloadable titles no way MS is going to miss out on AAA titles. They have Destiny and Watchdogs and both of those have exclusive PS content. I disagree however that they won't look better on PS4. This aint no cell processor we're talking about here.

I see this was a hit and run post, now that the OP has realized his reading comprehension failed him.

I'm not sure if it's true, but from what I've read, ps4 is the easier platform to develop on now, so I'd expect games to be made on ps4 and ported to One.

Made on PC, for PC, and ported to consoles is my guess.

Why would you think that when this whole generation it hasn't been true?

Just the existence of dev kits says you're wrong.

Oh I can remember like it was just yesterday when devs stated the ps3 and 360 versions of a game were supposedly "on par" with each other and we all know how that went many times ◔_◔

The ps4 has a 50% better gpu and you just can't say that they are on par because of esram and other stuff because you can't magically make up for the difference in pixel and texel output. The ps4 has double the rops vs the xbone.  Here is an image that closely depicts the difference between the 2. And cut the cloud computing bs (3rd party isn't using that anytime in the near future) and esram/move engine crap cause those are there to get closer to the gddr5 ram of the ps4. Both are using similar if not the same cpu and both have dedicated video/audio processing chips as stated by Mark Cerny, and Major Nelson.
