Forums - Sales - Global HW&SW UP! 15th June 2013

great numbers for the last of us. those 1.3 million estimates were a bit off but still amazing numbers for a new IP especially.

Wait TLOU did 1.17 in one day WW or one week

Two days, which falls under the week ending June 15th.  Two days is normal for European software, but in the US games tend to launch on Tuesday, so it had less time there.

2 days. pretty much all first week sales are actually just the first 2 days because games release on fridays

Actually games come out on Tuesdays (at least in NA). The Last of Us was different and came out on Friday.

Great PS3 and Last of Us sales.

Well yes, absolutely killer FW for TLOU (really impressed it cracked a million actually) and really nice for Animal Crossing too; plus that hardware boost.  It's been advertised quite a lot here in the UK so I'm not too surprised by it.  NPD adjustments pending, ofc.

But I want to talk about the more weird things happening in this update.  And there seem to be a lot of them.

  • Xbox 360.  No hardware boost from the new model at all?  Not even slightly?  I do find that hard to believe; normally there's something.
  • PSP software in the UK.  Up 55%?  What on earth has caused that; there's been nothing that I know of that would have had that effect.
  • Vita in the USA.  Up 23%.  There's been no new releases that would've made it in this chart that I'm aware of.  Seems really strange, especially since last NPD showed it doing worse than we were tracking it here.
So, presuming it is a phantom Vita boost, then it's still hovering around the 30k mark.  Wii-U tumbling closer to the 20k mark again; hopefully G&W in the west will do a little to offset that, although it seems pretty doubtful.  At least 3DS and PS3 provided us with some excitement this week.

Has the new model been marketed? Havn't seen anything about it in the game stores here.
Perhaps people are not aware that there is a new model of the 360?

Why did Paper Mario: Sticker Star get such a big increase in the UK this week?

That... actually seems to be another error to me.  Here's last week's UK chart; Paper Mario isn't even in the top 40 on the individual charts.  How VGC have it #4 this week I have absolutely no idea, but safe to say that it's incorrect.

Japan's first week for The Last of Us should add ~100k so 1.27k FW. I'm really surprised by this.

A minor correction, but it's 1.27mil, or 1270k. But that is mighty impressive, and most certainly well deserved.
