No doubt kinect being in the box will increase adoption, but then again the potential of the kinect, even this super upgrade, might turn out to not be very good. We will have to wait and see. I'm only really interested in voice controls for navigation, if they aren't laggy.
I don't mind the xbox controller, but I've never found a problem with the dualshock like some people do. The analog sticks are only uncomfortable because you need to adjust to each controller to gain muscle memory. It goes for both controllers. From the looks of it the Dualshock 4 is a fast improvement and the touchpad will be very useful for gaming and non-gaming functions. The X1 controller has rumble triggers, but I'm not sure how important those will be or not. It's disappointing that they are still using AA batteries.
The family plan is up in question. Strong sources say it was always a way to share game trial demos with people. MS never fully explained this "saving grace" and if it was part of their plan they should have used it to their advantage in selling their idea.
I don't think I want to watch two things at the same time and a remote control lets me easily switch to two pieces of content without having to exit one. The advantage is the fluidity and the kinect based navigation, something that is also available on Samsung Smart TVs and Xfinity/X1 cable service.
I have never experienced Xbox Live operating better than PSN. Perhaps its just me but both services are on par in operation. The advantage really seems to stem from the ability to gather friends properly and enter games. The PS4 seems to be leaps and bounds capable over the PS3 in that regard and is designed for social interaction. As for paying for PS plus in order to unlock local multiplayer, I am upset. It should be free, but at least Sony isn't pay walling other things for those unwilling to get PS+.
Both look to have great games but PS4 is the stronger piece of hardware and their games show it. I can't trust any of the footage MS showed in their demos due to the hardware they used to display them. I think with their concentration on cloud processing they are overconfident in the visual fidelity and have unfairly displayed their graphics.
Also, PS4 is cheaper, making it an easier buy. The fact it is stronger is a great plus on top of that. I have a bunch of friends who no longer trust MS after its launch of kinect, lack of studios and exclusives, and the Xbox one disaster. Now they are looking at PS4 and I couldn't be happier to have a healthier friend environment.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
