Forums - Nintendo - Shokio's interesting take on Star Fox and F-Zero

Collaborate with Kamiya to make starfox, he obviously has ideas, and seems passionate about it.

F-Zero doesn't need to be "groundbreaking" HD graphics with new courses and cars would suffice. That is what Mario Kart has been doing for the last 15 years.

"Star Fox could end up being great thanks to Kamiya."

The same thing we thought about Rare and Namco.

Except Kamiya has far more talent than anyone that worked on Star Fox Adventures and Assault. Look at Okami, Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe and Wonderful 101.

Really now?

Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Pac Man, Tekken, Soul Calibur. These are just a few games from both developers that had a bigger impact in this industry and are far more recognisable than all of the games you mentioned. I have no problem if Platinum Games develops the next SF but what i don't get is why doesn't Nintendo EAD create a new StarFox game themselves. They gave us StarFox 64 a great game that sold pretty good so why give it out to other devs? Adventures was a great game but not a true SF game, Assault was pretty dissapointing and actually inferior to Adventures in many aspects and Command was just mediocre very to close to bad imo.

I think Nintendo should finally pick up titles like StarFox, F-Zero and Metroid and try something new themselves.

I really don't want to see how Kamiya would handle the series, no offense to him.

What I know, is that Nintendo themselves made THE best SF game, hands down, in SF64. So for Miyamoto to say he wants the next one to be done in-house, that makes my heart glad. Why other people aren't also happy for this news is beyond me. It would be FAR better for Nintendo to get more internal development teams going, than it would be for them to continue to farm out all their franchises to outside studios. Some of the outside studios do great work, don't get me wrong. But there are some big franchises that Nintendo simply needs to handle themselves.

That is an opinion not what you know lol.

Im my opinion Starfox Adventures was great which wasn't made by Nintendo.

I think a hybrid between these two games with a in depth story would be epic.

A) "Starfox" Adventures wasn't a Star Fox game. It was Dinosaur Planet with a different coat of paint. IE. "tacked on". It wasn't a bad game. But it was NOT Star Fox.

B) No, it's not just my opinion. It's a generally held fact by most Star Fox fans that SF64 was the best in the series. I have literally never heard anyone say that Assault or Command were better. And while I personally know at least one person who prefers the original SNES game, even he wouldn't argue that it's "better" than the N64 title, because the N64 title was better on every single functional level.

C) I want Nintendo to do Star Fox, because, in terms of an ACTUAL straight forward Star Fox game, they made the best one themselves. Same with Metroid (Super Metroid).

I agree with A and B but I think Prime and Fusion were better than Super. Thats probably because I grew up with GC and GBA and didnt play Super until much later.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I think NST may be working on Star Fox or Metroid. That's just my hunch though.

Miyamoto seems to be putting the ki-bosh on F-Zero though. Which sucks.

I didn't get that from his comments. He has said in the past that he WANTS to see a new F-Zero, Star Fox, etc.

I think that, and keep in mind it was translated from Japanese, that he personally would like to think of a new element they could add to the F-Zero formula, instead of merely doing an HD remake or sequel. That's not a bad thing, even though "just having an HD F-Zero" wouldn't neccesarily be a bad thing either.

Again this is jsut opinions on what is and isn't a real star fox game.

I can get just as many SNES fans who will say star fox 64 wasn't a star fox game. They will say the game play was broken and the boxes easy as piss.

The only fact here is that star fox has tried to do MANY thinkgs over it's life. There are elements of each that can be used to make the ultimate star fox game.

None of those are intense action games. Platinum is known for them and Star Fox can be a really good one. Donkey Kong Country is  a platforming franchise, GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark are FPS games, Pac Man is a puzzle game and Tekken/SoulClaibur are fighting games. Again, NONE of them are intense action games like Star Fox.
