I believe Sony is thinking about lowering PS3 prices.

$399 PS4 will make the 500GB PS3 look expensive during holidays.

yeah getting the base model to be half as expensive as PS4 would be great for them this holiday. That makes a good couple tiers because not many will buy PS3 if 4 is only $100 more.

There are always amazing holiday deals for this console. PS3 went for $199 last Black Friday.

Anyway, the people who are looking to buy a PS4 or a XB1 are completely different. The people pre-ordering consoles right now are the ones who bought PS360s 7-8 years ago.

Would the PS3 be profitable with a price drop though? With their current hardware i could see them making a profit with its current price but idk if they dropped it again by lets say $100 if they would gain any profit on the console which is something they cant afford atm.

Well its a smart decision to bring out new models as it usually means that the console is cheaper to manufacture. So if they were to keep the price the same they make even more money...

But... i do expect the price of the PS3 to decrease, but i expect that to happen before/at games com. I cant see them waiting till the PS4 launch to announce a PS3 price reduction.
