Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 1 family plan was just a demo mode

So the family sharing plan was actually a terrible version of the game trial system for PS+. Ok.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Did you read the headline of the article you just referenced? It said revenue, not profits. There is a big difference.

Also from the article:

"Windows Division revenue was $5.703 billion, up 23 percent on the same quarter a year ago. However, $1.085 billion of this was revenue taken in previous quarters for the Windows Upgrade Offer. Excluding this, revenue was $4.618 billion, essentially unchanged year on year."

Here an interesting hints found by a GAFer.

What's funny is that they DID hint at this. In an obfuscated way. We just never noticed.

Remember when the DRM was first revealed? The easiest complaint was "What if I wanted to take it to my friend's house?"

Remember the response?

We just glossed over that because we figured, during the PEAK of the "24 hour check" freakout, that 1 hour offline for visiting a friend was just more shit on the cake.

Nope.

That was the max amount of time a friend could play a copy. Period

It was in front of our face the whole time.

MS always hinted to the 60 min Family Share feature but like everything said by MS was hidden in the confusion.

Damn, now people won't be able to play glorified demos! Damn you Sony, damn you whiners!

Doesn't matter anymore so who cares.

Lmao. Lmaaaao. And certain people just spun this incredible fiction over the single shred of hope they found in the sea of anti-consumer fuckery that was the XB1's DRM policies. It didn't matter a jot how completely antithetical it was to everything the XB1 stood for because they had to believe their was some justification for the shit mountain they were being presented with. Nope!

I'm dying here. This is the revolutionary future we and so many other concerned gamers denied you fellas with our 'childish whining' over little issues like fundamental consumer rights. DEMOS!! I'm so sorry!

didn't we all know they would somehow ruin that service?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

The xbox one would have been DOA with DRM. This would officially kill microsoft from the gaming market. No one would every trust them again.

For a second people actually convinced me they lost a nice feature with the loss of DRM.

Boy, I was SO wrong.
