Theres basically the gamers that play a wide array of games and the ones who play what is deemed acceptable by their social envyronment.

Pretty much the fact that anything outsells Valkyria Chronicles.

Diablo 3 outselling Torchlight 2.

I think I've mentioned in every other sales=quality thread that such logic is seriously flawed. Sales are a terrible indication of the quality of a game. There are several factors that one needs to take into account, but I won't make a list here again, as it is pointless. 

Good point, though still not entirely the case. Had Ni noKuni had pokemon and Ash and his friends as chacters, it would have had massive sales. Had Final Fantasy Xiii-2 been called anything else and was made by the creators of Nino Kuni, it would have sold significantly less. In terms of genre, gameplay etc, they're both niche, but still Final Fantasy games sell much better. 

I don't blame casuals either, but it's definitely annoying. Same with Jersey Shore, Twilight and other non quality products. 

Actually, not realy. Not even top200 shows of all time. It was insanely successful for what it was, but still not even close to successful shows like Desperate Housewives, Lost, Big Ban Theory, The Walking Dead, Two and a Half Men, American Idol, Survivor, The Voice etc.

True, but I can't really blame casual for being uninformed, either. They buy what they associate with good things, not something that could be anything from really good to really bad. The associate Pokémon with good but they have no idea what Ni no Kuni is like - if they even know about it at all.

Well said, I agree too. It's total bullcrap the way mainstream gaming works beyond the cozy confines of our chartz, but there's not too much we can do sadly. On the topic of under hyped games, or at least in the general public's eye, I cannot wait for X!

The majority of gamers are young. So thier purchasing power ain't that strong to buy & try other games. So thier gaming taste get stuck with what is mostly popular with their peers.

I know this because my 10 yr old brother does not have the same gaming likes, he has COD, Assassins Creed, NBA 2K12 all mainstream games but No niche or core titles.
