As much as I loathed the game, it wasn't THAT bad.  I'm sure I'd play it again if I could mod it.

I have to wonder how moddable their engine is tho, I very much doubt that they would push out actual mod tools/support. I imagine there would be simple texture replacements etc (nude patch in other words lol) but I am not sure if it would be feasable for serious modding like rebalanced gameplay, extra areas etc.

why not? SE's eidos games are only steamworks. The Last Remnant, Front Mission and FFXI are on there as well.

the new FF7 port, is only their site though.

If there's a will there's a way.  I mean, look at Final Fantasy 7 and 8 PC.  Those ports were direct PSX ports, and look at how modders managed to mess with them.

Sounds like they want to make it as amazing as possible on PC so they can even port it to 9th gen consoles for a cash-in that still looks good on consoles at that time.

I was still having a little hope that this title would make it to the Wii U eventually to avoid getting a PS4, but if this happens it's good enough for me : D
