Forums - Gaming - Can indie developers stop showing off how nerdy they are by making 8-bit/16-bit games?

There is nothing lazy about Terraria or Hotline Miami.

I haven't played Hotline Miami, but I have played Terraria and I 100% agree that Terraria is not lazy at all.  Years of effort went into bringing it where it is now, and more work is being put into it to expand the game.  Adding Terraria to the rant was just plain bad taste.  I'm sure the same can be said about Hotline Miami.

See this is why the game industry is in such a bad shape.. Gamers demanding more... More and MOAR

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

8,16 bit styles are cheap

I completely disagree. For starters its unfair to lump all independent games with (relatively) simple graphics into a single pool of "lazy" games. Secondly, some of the best games we've gotten in the past few years have been simple-looking indie games. Retro City Rampage, shown in the OP, is one of the best games of 2012, for example.

noooo!! i love those types of indie games :P

SNES runs through my veins. Never stop, indie devs!

Same here; even when/or if they get clogged with cholesterol :P.

CTRL+C and CTRL+V with minor tweaks from past 8/16 bit classics, won't buy it.

Indie developers for the most part are like NPC in GTA, if you get an Inferno all of a sudden everybody is going to have the same thing.
Some of them look cool, but for the most part they're terrible and you can obviously see that they're quick money grab.

It is just Pullus. Most of the others are defending smaller more creative ventures.

No way man! its not lazy its an art! if you don't like it don't buy it.

I agree its been done to death, but so have most other art styles.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
