Why are other versions more "legit" than the Vita one?


The point is that those games will not make people consider buying the system when they can play it elsewhere and not add another 200 bucks to their bill. I did not say anything about the quality of those games.

Isn´t that a different case though ? ( With Zelda being a firstparty Nintendo IP / Ys being thirdparty and having many Steam releases already?

Just accept that the Vita is a lesser platform like the Wii U. Nobody gives a damn, if they receive multiplatform games. Somebody would have to make those systems the main platform they game on to consider it a reach lineup. So it's all about exclusives, otherwise there are no games that matter.

This ties in with the point I'm getting at.

People complain that the ____ doesn't have any games yet when games are presented be they multies or more importantly exclusives, they find something else to complain about.

My arguement is at some point people need to realise that the console is not the problem, it's consumers themselves.

Are you really, seriously trying to suggest it's the consumers' fault Vita isn't doing well?

When the Vita was announced, people lawded it for having a good price and a great batch of games during release I seem to recall people saying it had the most launch titles since ever.

So to recap.

Nice hardware

good price

quantity of games

So...what happened?

Consumers chose not to buy it. Makers of products can only do so much, if consumers choose not to buy something, there's little that's going to change that.

Meh, maby. I don't really care. I'm just anoyed at the "vita has no games" statements and the follow ups of "i wonder when Uncharted: GA will get ported to the ps3", "I wish tearaway wasn't for the vita", "game x should be on that system instead".

He just happened to be the post i took it up with and since he had nintendo in his avatar...

I think if you want concrete information on the vita and its releases you have to look within the officials threads on this site and on sites like Neogaf. Side threads like this one only serve as fodder for trolls to derail and post off topic stuff like sales numbers, etc. Vita's software library is growing in the market that it matters the most, and while the games mentioned are remakes and redos, its a start. Also it has its share of exclusives coming from Sony (Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice and upcoming Freedom Wars and Destiny of Spirits ), hopefully more 3rd parties will follow suit.

As for the US/Europe, the vita will have a harder time but you still you still have developers like warner bros and ubisoft trying to make an effort with their game selection and they still have price reductions in their future.

Thanks. The PS Vita Killer app wait continues...

I know PSP does emulation, but due to the increased performance on the Vita I am hoping some cooler consoles get emulated. Things like Dreamcast, N64, even Saturn...

Vita got a lot of praise from forum-dwellers, yes, but you have to realise that we're talking about a minority here. Even if most of those praising the system bought it, it wouldn't translate into that many sales.

The price was only good when the Vita and the 3DS cost the same, but then the 3DS got a price cut and all of a sudden $250 weren't that good of a price anymore. Plus, you have to factor in the expensive memory cards.

And the system certainly had a lot of games at launch but it lacked system sellers. Having a lot of games won't mean much if the target audiences of those games are small.

So no, it's not the consumers fault that Vita is where it is. If you should blame anyone you should blame Sony for not putting in more effort into taking the system out of the niche cave it currently resides in (assuming that's what we want here).
