The game industry is heading towards a large contraction I think, not even PS4/XB1 are going to lift it out of this funk alone.

There's too many entertainment options for people nowadays between smart devices that are with them all the time, social networking, Netflix/Hulu type services, and PVRs that let people store hundreds of hours of programs to watch when ever they chose.

Three 8th gen systems out. All 3 having (or had in case of 3DS) some problems.

Here's to hoping that the rest of the gen goes a lot more smoothly.

Yes, and under/overtracking is how VGC numbers compare to NPD numbers.  In this case, Revelations numbers are bad, but they might actually be slightly better than people assumed from VGC numbers.

Damn Vita is a dead platform in the West. It would need a price cut just to get up to what the Wii U is selling now which is horrible.
