Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should ReLaunch the Wii U

okay, as we've been seeing it, Wii U has been a catastrophic failure in the sales department. worldwide it is selling less then 30k a week. and with the PS4 launching later this year at only $50 more then the deluxe Wii U bundle, with some pretty impressive hardware and sleek design I can see that the Wii U is going to be in deep trouble come this holiday season. however, I think I may have a solution that could atleast help the Wii U ship a hefty number of systems.

1. Price cut

this was a no brainer. get rid of the basic bundle completely, and bring the deluxe bundle down to $299

2. Switch Game bundles

instead of Nintendoland, how bout switch it with Super Mario 3DWorld. that game by itself, arguably doesn't seem to appealing imo, at least not compared to the Galaxy games. however bundled with the Wii U, seems like a no brainer. a perfect gift for the holidays, required the game releases at the beggining of December.

3. New ad slogan

lets just completely forget about the awful dubstep commercails, and bring in some quality advertisment. have a commercial showing quick glimpes of Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Bayonetta etc. all the best games to come out for the Wii U. show them games Nintendo, thats what we want. and no ear shattering dubstep :( seriously, that was terrible. have some sort of epic orchestrated theme. that usually works.

4. Better E-shop

okay, I really don't know why it takes Nintendo SOOO long to release games on there. heck, we should have everything from Wii's virtual console, but for some reason they are slowly re-releasing all these old games. just hire a decent sized team, and increase the rate of realeases. heck, start releasing Wii and Gamecube games with HD res on the E-shop, how hard can that be?

Numbers 1 and 3 need to happen.

2 is kinda iffy. People that buy WiiU's for their kids won't know what E-shop even does or is, so 4 isn't really much of a selling point to the mass market.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I can certainly see the sales of the console increasing at least a little bit with these changes. Perhaps it's possible that people will see the Super Mario 3D World name and think it has some association with Super Mario World? Or that's just too retarded?

By how much? Maybe the same price as the 3DS? Then everyone would buy it!

Price cut will last for a month, then it will be back to regular sales unless they release more games.

Maybe yes, but they just gotta keep reminding people that the games are coming. Mario Kart 8, X, Bayonetta, Smash Bros and more. they just need to keep playing adds like the one I described in 3, and should be ok.

I think that's what the Summer Update plan to do.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

I think the lack of advertising is a huge problem. Now, I don't live in the US or any of the big gaming markets, so that's just a guess, but everybody is talking about the PS4. And the Xbox One is being bashed, sure, but negative publicity is still publicity. Who the hell is talking about the Wii U?

Well Nintendo have just said they'll be no price cut. That could change now, though...

2 and 3 will likely happen in some form however.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

yea, their commercials are horrid. I watch those and become a little embarrassed at times.

I pretty much agree with everything you put up there. But price cut will be only temporary fix if they can't keep releases coming, whether it be VC games or indie games. I really like the indie scene right now, just purchased Mutant Mudds.

Are there actually commercials for it airing right now? I think I remember one, maybe that I saw a couple months back for lego city.
