DevilRising said: It's kind of hard to get hyped when SO many comic book films have been shit. The X-Men films weren't bad FILMS (well the first two weren't), but to a long-time old school X-men fan, they were terrible X-MEN films. The Fantastic Four movies were garbage. I actually liked the first Hulk film, but thought the second was horribly dull. The Spider-Man trilogy was, for the most part, great (aside from a couple of unnecessary issues that 3 had), but I had zero interest in "The Amazing Spider-Man"....rebooting a franchise RIGHT after a trilogy finishes is a really crap move, in my opinion. Thor was decent, I have no idea what the second will be like. Same with Captain America. Iron Man 1 was surprisingly good, but 2 was dull and 3 was outright nonsense, at least in the story department. Avengers surprised me a lot and I'm REALLY hoping 2 doesn't let me down, but I'm not gonna hold me breath. The first Ghost Rider was okay, but the second was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Same with the Punisher. Daredevil, the director's cut at least, was decent, but Elektra was absolute shit. Superman Returns wasn't BAD, but it was terribly boring and dragged on. Just didn't seem like Superman, too much lame attempt at drama. The first two Bale Batman films were very solid, but 3 just absolutely shit the bed in every way possible. One of the worst sequels I've ever seen, to anything. Green Lantern was...............yeah. The Wolverine and new "X-Men" films aren't even worth talking about. So yeah. It's fair to say that my enthusiasm for The Man of Steel isn't very high. I doubt I'll even bother seeing it in theaters. I might catch it on video and it MIGHT surprise me. But honestly, I'm not expecting much. The trailer certainly didn't make me go "MAN that looks good!". So.....................yup. |
I agree, there have been some bad ones out there. But when you have a good team like we had with Superman, you just have to hope that all will be well and take a chance. The last Superman really had not chance at all to be liked.
I think that word of mouth will push this to a billion.
