I agree with the OP. The letdown with this game is enormous. The number of players disappointed by this game is bigger than the number of players happy.

I bought a 3DS for Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. I would have bought a Wii U for Galaxy 3 or a real Super Mario game (64, Sunshine), but actually, the revelation of this game make me want not to buy the Wii U.

If a lot of long time Nintendo fans don't even want to buy it, then the game is not going to succeed. Nintendo lost a lot of consumers with this pathetic effort.

The Wii U sales are beyond terrible, and this game will do nothing to help the console. Can you imagine people spending more than 300€ to play this game? I can't, and I won't.

I hope it fails and the Wii U fails as well this year. It may correct Nintendo attitude the next years.

I dont see this one game causing people to buy the console but the combination of 3D World, DKC, Wii Fit, Wii Party, Wind Waker, Sonic Lost World, Pikmin 3, W101, plus the 10 or so multiplats releasing, new markwting push and possible price cut will def lead many people to get a Wii U this holiday. Its clear Nintendo Iisnt relying on 1 single game to save Wii U but anstead a steady stream of quality software. This will also give it the momentum it needs and next year they plan on continuing that with the big system sellers in Mario Kart and Smash Bros along with core supporting titles like X and Bayonetta.

DKCTP, Pikmin 3, W101 and Sonic are nice, but that won't sell me a new 300$ console.

Mario Kart and 3D Mario are bigger seller. Mario 3D world is pure crap and Mario Kart 8 is released in 2014. Nintendo is naked for this holiday and the Wii U will have a deserved flop.

Because from what we've seen so far, this looks lazy, unimaginative, and low production value where Galaxy 2 was creative and high production value.

Yeah, totally. SMG2 was a level expansion pack with some newly composed music.

It wasn't an "expansion pack", it didn't have any world from the original SMG, the worlds were completely new and original. Expansion packs always feature the same content of the original game plus some additions.

And this is different from 3D World?

No, but 3D world doesn't have the production values of Mario Galaxy 2 and only for that it doesn't deserve the sales of SMG2

Hold the phone. When did "production values" become so important? I, for one, don't make my cake-purchasing decisions based on the icing.

I enjoyed 3D Land just as much as the Galaxy games because the gameplay is excellent, and it was still absolutely not a slouch in terms of creative level design. If EAD Tokyo had tons more ideas that didn't make it into 3D Land, including multiplayer, and they believe that these things would work our far better on Wii U than 3DS, then more power to them. I trust them, because they're a reputable bakery knowing that a good cake comes from the ingredients first, not the toppings.

Fascinating. Do you honestly believe that I would gobble up lies? You can't make absolute statements like that when they aren't true. SMG2 straight up copy-pasted one level from SMG as well as a boss compilation.

Also, regarding your previous post that games shouldn't look similar, how about this:

Isn't an identical look even worse? As you can see, that's what SMG2 is guilty of.

Firstly, I'm not lying, all the reviews of the game say that the worlds are completely new. And....oh please  SMG 2 doesn't have the Gusty Garden galaxy.

If you like 3D Land as much as Galaxy, then it's you who have a value problem.

But then, some people prefer McDonald's to real cooking.

The problem for me is not that it's a sequel to another game necessarily, but rather that it looks to be in every way worse than either of the galaxy games.

You vastly underrate the quality of 3D Land's design. But I guess that doesn't matter as much as how much spit was used to polish a bunch of pixels.

The reviews? Hahaha, this is gold. You haven't even completed SMG2.

Well I said the reviews because I thought you wouldn't believe me if I said that without any support apart from myself

Well thats where u went wrong, just because those games wont make u buy the console doesnt mean everyone else feels the same way. Also how do u know its pure crap? Because it doesnt push the console to its limits graphically? Im pretty positive it will still a very fun game especially with the co-op which is something we havent seen in a 3D Mario.

Theres still a good chance we will see a Mario Universe down the line. There was 6 years in between 64 and Sunshine, and another 5 until Galaxy. The only reason Galaxy 2 came out so much sooner was because it used the same engine as 1 and was mostly ideas they couldnt fit/finish in time for Galaxy. It only been 3 years since Galaxy 2 and id be surprised if we didnt see a huge ambitious 3D Mario by 2015.

I played it, I rate it correctly. It was a decent handheld effort.

But nowhere near the excellence of Galaxy's games. Biggest Nintendo disappointment ever, this Mario 3D world.

Yeah, it will be a fun game, a multiplayer fun game like Mario Party..... Goof for people who did not want a true platformer.

If we have to wait 2015 to see a true Mario and a true Zelda, then Nintendo shouldn't be surprised we wait 2015 to get their console.
