Forums - Nintendo - Can Wii U appeal to more "core" gamers?

I think "core gamer" and "mature audience" are kind of at odds with each other.

I don't know how a game like Bayonetta 2 is any more mature than a game like The Wonderful 101, apart from their ESRB ratings. If you're a video game fan you should be able to enjoy games from all genres and subject material. As long as the game is well-designed and fun to play, who cares if it's got bullets, breasts, and blood?

That's a good attach rate for ZombiU, the problem is that while the Wii U's userbase expands, ZombiU's sales are likely to die down completely, leaving a poor attach rate and proving nothing.

I guess only time and some other, similar titles will tell though.

Unfortunately no. Most of the "core" you're referring to thinks that Nintendo consoles are "kiddy".

Gee, I wonder how they ever got that idea in their heads...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

They absolutely can but they have to actually be ambitious towards that goal and not lollygag about it. The seem to be dragging their feet with getting the cosnole to be attractive to core gamers. If they'd allow more ram for games and upped the clockspeed of the console and showed the 3rd parties how serious they are they'd easily get that core image.

It'd be a cheaper but adequate core gamers console with great nitnendo 1st parties. It brings a tear to my eye that Wii U's missing out on Kingdom hearts, MGSV, and FFXV

.... Soo check the petition for just this goal ;)

If by core you mean those who are into the new style of Final Fantasy XV, or those who are into Killzone 4, no, and they don't need to better off without that market.

If by core you mean those who are interested in X and were back in the day interested in Final Fantasy VII in the same generation as Xenogears, then yes they may get that market and should imho, they are a healthy consumerbase.

That was incredibly pretentious.

It also doesn't make a lot of sense, as it's entirely possible to like Killzone and Final Fantasy VII.

So they're ready made Nintendo fans, basically. All they need to do is get over liking good graphics.

What an incredibly dumb post.

Nintendo has terrible marketing!!!! Some TV adverts talking up mature games and their free online aspect and E-Shop would be a step in the right direction..... And GTA V MUST happen if they are to portray themselves as mature...
