Yep a tiny pad with buttons... more of them, more possibilities...

I already stated that PS4 has a trackpad and I hope they use it way more than they used that Sixaxis tilt thingy. Put features on your controllers ok but use them so we know it's not just the same controls from the gen before... PS1-PS2-PS3 and now PS4 have almost the same controller... possibilities are too close to say they offer new possibilities, except for the trackpad.

Starfox and Killer Instinct are not necessarily more fun than NES games, but they offer everything not possible on NES, be it graphics (to this extend I have to say it), sounds, controls man everything screams I'm a next gen game... now look at Infamous Second Son vs Infamous 2... they are the same game one with better graphics that is it...

I'm not saying they are bad games... I'm saying up until now, next gen don't offer much except for better graphics and it's a let down.

So essentially STarfox and K.I. are higher tech than Nes games right? Infamous: SS is higher tech than Infamous 2...same thing. You are comparing different genres of games to make a point. Star fox and K.I. only screamed "nex-gen" because their style of games weren't done on NES previously. Now, to use your type of comparison, what was the difference between Super Mario Bros (NES) and Super Mario World (SNES) besides graphics? In both games, you jumped up and down and moved from left to right. Both were also played with 2 buttons.

Yup, he pretty much contradicted himself, with what he said at the start of the thread. NES to SNES was for the most part graphics. Sound is on a level now that we probably won't go much higher than that, maybe 9.1 surround support and better sound chip but we won't have a revolution here ever again. And when we compare PS3 launch titles, not to mention X360 launch titles, what we see now in terms of graphics and scope is a quantum leap. Way more immersive worlds, thanks to more spacious maps, more NPCs, physics effects, and a plethora of effects make the games finally feel alive.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

most of the games are cross gen, you won't see true next gen games until late 2014/15. This arguement is still as stupid as it was when the Dreamcast was announced anyway.

Your post has absolutely nothing to do with OP and its argument.

Sure it does almost all of the games shown at E3 started out on and or are still coming to PS360. No shit they would be possible outside of the graphics. The first batch of games at every new console generation since the dawn of 3D games has had the exact same argument layed against em. It's going to take a few years for developers to build ground up experiances around new hardware.

The OPs argument is silly

He's saying next gen does offer graphics, but not much more. By more he's hinting at ideas, creativity, fantastical worlds.

I'm not saying his premice is correct, but you're arguing someone who say next gen doesn't offer graphics which is not what he is saying.

there is no proper way to use kinect. Besides using it as a baseball bat...

No I am saying that game design innovation not possible on previous gen (what the OP claims is lacking) is unlikely to bee seen in launch window games as most of them have game designs rooted in last gen hardware. And that it will take time for developers to design and create new experiances that leverages next gen hardware so it would be better to gudge in 2-3 years once devs have got the hang of the new hardware.

I am also saying that next gen will bring many advances in game design outside of the core game loop. Thanks to the increased performance headroom which will allow developers to offer more diverse and dynamic level and encounter design, things like improved scale and NPC diversity, procedural animation and physics and more dynamic elements in level design which don't really become aparent is trailers and stage demos.

I see it now. Okay I agree with you.

Next gen offers a lot of non-gaming. On the X1 and PS4 deliberately, on the Wii U by accident.

Inclusion of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Miiverse and excellent web browser aren't accidents.
