I agree it already looks awesome. Without having played it I'm pretty sure it's going to be a serious contender for the title. It already stomps all over Super Mario Kart, Super Circuit and Double Dash. It'll probably beat DS and 7 too. Let's see if Wii and 64 will be toppled !

They already were toppled, or are you talking about sales?

No. 'Awesomeness' of course.

64 still has the best tracks as far as I'm concerned. Wii's the best overall though. 7 and DS are good 3rds and 4ths respectively while SNES Kart, Double Dash! and especially Super Circuit are the obvious weakest entries in my opinion ('weak' is still good though; in the 3D Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart franchises). 8 seems to be really good, so I see it having a big chance at reaching at least my number 3 spot!

I don't see it beating Wii and DS in sales though. 34 million (more, because Wii is still selling afterall) is such a big number, that's going to be unbeatable. 7's doing good, but also likely won't reach DS's sales. It (both 7 and 8) could beat 64's sales though.

Urm, uh, well, guess I'll just be blunt. MK64 is uber jank compared to the newer entries. Sure it was good for it's time, but it's time has long been over. The newer Mario Karts are leaps and bounds ahead of it in every single way possible. More chacters, more tracks, more features, more everything, making them the better overall packages. Don't let the nostalgia blind you mate! Also, there is no set rule for what makes a track good or not, atleast not one that I'm aware of. You can like 64's or Wii's tracks the most for whatever reasons, that's perfectly fine, but that just makes it your favorite Kart, not the best. And yeah, with the way the Wii U is selling, MK8 definitely wont be the best selling Kart despite being the best in the series.

That's what I said; "as far as I'm concerned" and "my" .

And nostalgia isn't blinding me, otherwise I wouldn't have said Wii was the best entry overall and 8 to be at least my #3 favorite already. Lastly, 'more tracks' and 'more features' are irrelevant when those things aren't as good as those in an older entry.

Wait, I'm confuzled. Are you saying the best or your favorite? Your post keep sounding like you're saying both, so make up your mind lol. And again, what basis are you using to determine which tracks are better? If anything, N64's track are of the most inferior because you're just sitting there holding down the A button and not much else a good amount of the time on most tracks.

Also, I'm shocked you believe 64 even comes close to the newer entries. 16+ characters are better than 8 characters, improved graphics n sound are better than inferior graphics n sound, 32 tracks (some of which are N64 ones) are better than 16 tracks, online play is better than no online, different Karts are better than all of them looking exactly the same, stats that differentiate characters and Karts/Kart customization - basically strategy, depth, and personalization is better than none/very little, 60fps is better than 30fps, more depth in tracks (coins, tricks, gliding, etc.) is better than less, more modes are better than less, and so ons and so ons. A lot of that stuff wasn't even in MK64, so how can you even say 64 does all that but better?

Oh, and MK7 > MKWii. I mean, MK7 is basically just MKWii on the 3DS, only with much more balance, more depth, better frame rate, and more options, hence it's the overall better game.

Welp, after playing it a good amount, my stance remains the same! MK8 will be the best Kart, beating out MK7 by a good mile! Would still like to hear the reasonings behind those voting no it wont though. There's no need to be scared, I wont wail on ya just for having a different opinions, though of course I will try to convince you otherwise just like I expect yal to do. Civil debates ftw!

I hate to say it but the anti-gravity is somewhat similar to Crash Nitro Kart, however I feel that Vicarious Visions did not utilise this well enough and Nintendo will. But I'm looking forward to what other innovations they decide to bring forward to the Mario Kart franchise.

It did look very good. I'm hooked on the Wii and DS versions.

Same here.

OT:  I haven't played it yet due to where I currently reside but a friend of mine in St. Louis has.  Unfortunately he had to play the game split screen with somebody else but it didn't stop him from being thoroughly impressed.

Probably my most anticipated game announced so far on any console.

What was the anti-gravity like in Crash Nitro Kart and what was wrong with it? I think the anti-gravity put to great use in MK8. In first track, the anti-gravity makes up much of the main course, giving you the whole "omg I'm upside down!" wow factor. Just a visual gimmick here, but a great one nonetheless. In the second track, it gives access to an alternative route along the walls, which is more favorable than the main one. In the third, it combines it's uses from the previous two tracks. The anti-gravity doesn't alter the core gameplay, a good thing I might add, but it does give the tracks more depth, or atleast make them more visually pleasing.

Whut, why was it unfortunate he had to play split screen? I'd think it more fun that way, especially since the computers don't offer much challenge. But anywho, yeah this is definitely my most anticipated game aswell! I wish I knew how to show images on here so I could put MK8 in my signature too. D:

If they let you download every Mario Kart track from the past as a retro track through DLC ... then yeah I can see it being the best to date.
