64 still has the best tracks as far as I'm concerned. Wii's the best overall though. 7 and DS are good 3rds and 4ths respectively while SNES Kart, Double Dash! and especially Super Circuit are the obvious weakest entries in my opinion ('weak' is still good though; in the 3D Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart franchises). 8 seems to be really good, so I see it having a big chance at reaching at least my number 3 spot!

I don't see it beating Wii and DS in sales though. 34 million (more, because Wii is still selling afterall) is such a big number, that's going to be unbeatable. 7's doing good, but also likely won't reach DS's sales. It (both 7 and 8) could beat 64's sales though.

 Urm, uh, well, guess I'll just be blunt. MK64 is uber jank compared to the newer entries. Sure it was good for it's time, but it's time has long been over. The newer Mario Karts are leaps and bounds ahead of it in every single way possible. More chacters, more tracks, more features, more everything, making them the better overall packages. Don't let the nostalgia blind you mate! Also, there is no set rule for what makes a track good or not, atleast not one that I'm aware of. You can like 64's or Wii's tracks the most for whatever reasons, that's perfectly fine, but that just makes it your favorite Kart, not the best. And yeah, with the way the Wii U is selling, MK8 definitely wont be the best selling Kart despite being the best in the series.

And nostalgia isn't blinding me, otherwise I wouldn't have said Wii was the best entry overall and 8 to be at least my #3 favorite already. Lastly, 'more tracks' and 'more features' are irrelevant when those things aren't as good as those in an older entry.
