Forums - Nintendo - Are you glad or disappointed Retro´s Wii U game is another DKC?

fair enough

I'm alright with it. I expected something else, but this looks fantastic, so how can I complain?

Please someone quote me with a link for the trailer.

Also, Ubisoft should have assigned a team or outside developer to do ZOMBIU 2, maybe those dudes who made Silent Hill Downpour, they are quite talented.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I was hoping for something more ambitious... like a new ip, starfox or 2D/3D metroid.

Sony and MS have a shooter overflow and Nintendo has a platforming problem. I love platforming games but not every game on a Nintendo console has to be one. Super Luigi U, Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong on 3DS and Wii U, Yoshis Island 3, even Dream team has a bunch of platforming elements. Give it a break would you.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Disappointed isn't even the word. What a joke... why waste the talents of these guys on a 2D platformer that one of Nintendo's B-team development units could shit out in a week?

It's funny because before all development energy was focused on the original Metroid Prime, Retro had like 3 or 4 other games in the pipeline for the just-recently announced GC back in 2000 / early '01. Since then, going on 13 years now, they will have put out a whopping 5 titles... all of which are based off existing Nintendo IPs.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Oh wow... Rol... wow... Inferior studios? I guess Naughty Dog DIDN'T create one of the most critically acclaimed games this gen...

I'm sure Rol would say something like "Naughty Dog doesn't make games". I don't agree, but I also won't proclaim Naughty Dog superiority until they un-cancel Jak 4.

No, Rol says that critical acclaim doesn't mean much when the average reviewer highly favors cinematic games.

And if DanneSandin wants to take the stance that The Last of Us/the Uncharted series is better than the Metroid Prime series or that any of Naughty Dog's platformers were better than Donkey Kong Country Returns, then he should hand over his Nintendo gamer badge, because he is obviously not deserving of it for such blatant lies.

I actually haven't played any of those games (planning to though), but I think ND has gotten pretty good scores this whole generation. And besides, they've actually made 4 games in one gen. I think Retro's done like... 2.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Could not have been more disappointed. Though I loved DKCR (bought it on wii and 3ds) I really wanted retro to be doing something wow worthy. I do not see anyone lining up to buy a Wii U do to another 2D platformer.

Who is John Galt?

3DS Friend Code : 2535-4338-9000

AMD FX 8150 , 8 GB DDR3 Kingston Memory,  EVGA GTX 560 TI 2 GB superclocked, Samsung 256 GB SSD

Disappointed. Nintendo needed a Metroid or Starfox to balance the light-hearted Mario title.

Because they couldn't. If this is even close to as great as Donkey Kong Country returns, Nintendo's B-teams couldn't touch is with an unlimited budget and production time. Retro's level design has a different flavour to other Nintendo studios, none of the others could have done it the same.

Being a 2D platformer doesn't make it bad. Some of the best games ever made are 2D platformers.
