Forums - Nintendo - Mario 3D World looks garbage and Nintendo should be ashamed

If OoT, TP, SS and all the other great Zelda games don't give you confidence, if M64, Sunshine and Galaxy don't give you confidence, I don't know what to tell you.

It will come, just be patient. This isn't unheard of either! The cube waited at least 2 years to get SS and WW. They are working on it.

Why Nintendo didn’t make Mario Galaxy 3, using past Mario ideas

June 11th, 2013 Posted in News, Posted by Brian, Wii U

The Wii brought us two outstanding Super Mario Galaxy games. Nintendo could have chosen to continue the series on Wii U, but decided to bring along something that is more reminiscent of Super Mario 3D Land than anything else.

Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi and director Koichi Hayashida explained to IGN that it came down to the idea of Super Mario 3D World’s concentration in its simultaneous 4-player local multiplayer. While making Super Mario 3D Land, the team thought that adding multiplayer would be fantastic, but this element wasn’t included in the final product. The team thought that it could leverage the Wii U’s power to bring its multiplayer ideas to light.

In Super Mario 3D World, fans can expect familiar elements from classic games, such as Princess Peach’s floating ability from Super Mario Bros. 2 and the more far-out level design ideas and collectible green stars from Galaxy.

Since Princess Peach is playable in Super Mario 3D World, she can’t be kidnapped. Nintendo won’t say who the victim is this time, so we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for further details.

Guess this is the only 3D Mario in development.

I don't see it. Where in that do they say it's the only 3D Mario game in development?

Koizumi's team are the only ones that produce 3D Mario games. They don't have another project at the same time and there's no other team making it. You are just settling yourself for dissapointment.

He could be directing two teams......

Fuck multiplayer in my 3D platformer.

I stand by what I said, the game looks garbage. The artstyle is garbage, the graphics looks like Mario Party on gamecube, the camera angle is awful, the level design is weak.

Mario Galaxy looks infinitely better, even graphically. I can't believe it is from the same team. They must have got 5% of MG budget.

I agree that this 3d Mario does look like a let down. While 3d mario land was good, I feel like Nintendo just said "Hey lets make a console version of this!" without really understanding that 3D land is more suited towards a handheld. The multiplayer does look interesting and maybe it could turn out to be a great Mario game.

Oh, and to some people in this thread. Quit being so damn butthurt it's really embarrassing.

Idk i liked the way the game looked, sure its not a full blown 3D 120 star type of hype Mario game but it will still be a great game IMO.
Sorta looks like its apart of the "New Bros" series because of the 4 player mode/flag poles which disappoints me because they already have one out for the Wii U(with a giant DLC coming forth for it as well i might say)

So im sort of split between approved and disappointed if that makes sense?!?

Edit!

I just watched a gameplay video of the game and i must say the idea of a 4 player 3D Mario game where Peach hasnt been kidnapped is starting to grow on me. Youtube a few gameplay videos guys it really looks to be a great game

No no no! Please stop with the "X because I say so!" logic, it get's us nowhere! I'd really like to hear full blown reasoning as to why you feel the graphics, camera, level design, etc., are weak/awful/w.e, that way I can look at that stuff closely when I play the game tomorrow and see how your claims hold up.

I think it could look better visually but that's not to say it looks bad...
Those rumors about Wart returning may be true after all (I say that because of similarities to SMB2)...
If it captures the whimsy of SMW, I imagine a lot of fans would be pleased...
Similarities to SM3DL worry me not because of aesthetics, but because I feel like SM3DL didn't have a great amount of content...
If this game has the same amount of content as any previous 3D Mario game, then I will be pleased...

Have a nice day...

The graphis are cheap, it looks like Mario Party. The artstyle is poor, the music and sounds are basics, it looks worse than NSMBU in that aspect.

The camera is way too high when we see above, meaning the game us like 3D Land, it's a small scal game, with levels being very low and very limited as a platformer.

The level design, just watch, it's very easy, simplified, to allow multiples player to pass easily. You can't have technical and awesome level and multiplayers, it's impossible.
