It was done on purpose, being two major online games they didn't want people cheating to unlock everything and to actually work for it, the lack of being able to back up that data is just a downfall of their plan.  If they could back up the data to work only on your console and no one elses it would probably be the only solution to the problem.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

I don't get it...unlocking everything won't really help you though...and you're free to play against people who unlocked something you haven't...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Does the SSBB online (especially the FCs) depend on specific Wii Friend Codes? Or does it do it on a random basis? If it is random this could be to prevent multiple online accounts using the same FC or something... just a thought.

It wouldn't make sense to tie the Friend Code to anything but the disc itself.

FC are tied to discs. u cant make saved data to SD because of that and other personal data(other peoples FC).

I believe FCs aren't actually tied totally to discs. I'll find the link in a second, but I believe this is how it is.

Your Wii has a standard friendcode. (That's your friendcode)

You disc has a friendcode (that's not the one you see in the game)

For security reasons, there are some mathematics done here, that make up a new friendcode which is the one you see in the game.

Now this is a problem for me, as I bought a Wii for 1/3 of the price, because the FC on the Wii was broken. Therefore I can't get friendcodes for my games.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

When you goin' to another tournament, TGM? I want more vids. Those guy's you play with are awesome.

That would do two things.  First it would make the FCs non-unique making it likely that two people would get the same FC.  Second it would make it impossible for the SSBB servers to tell you that a FC doesn't exist.  I believe the SSBB friend codes are computed as that explains #2, but I don't believe the Wii FC has anything to do with them.
