You know how stupid you look when you just totally ignore a point? It isn't about losing, it's about playing against assholes who do all they can to remove all the fun, variety, and joy from a game so they can stroke their own fragile ego. I could be beating the loser who uses Ness and Final Destination every single time and it would still be the same thing. Nintendo gamers are clearly not meant for online gaming. Nintendo is ready, but it's fans don'twant anything to do with variety. No wonder each new bland, predictable, repetitive Zelda game continues to sell.

I can handle losing. Clearly, anyone who only uses one (or a whopping two or three) characters constantly cannot. I won several, did well without totally losing or winning, and lost some. Same story every single time--if I was up against some prick with a fragile ego who feared actually switching characters or stages (you know, actually using the offered variety and customization), it made the game beyond dull. Leave it to shallow Nintendo fans to kill what sould've been great game (or at the very least, they hastened the point at which it lost it's luster).

Obviously, anyone who doesn't understand my point is guilty of said shallowness. Congratulations, you're fucking boring. When I've played Xbox Live, I didn't run into this kind of crap. When those people are given a plethora of options, they seem to actually enjoy mixing things up when they play. Give a Nintendo fanboy options, and he complains if he can't play the exact same boring way as the last several iterations of the current title.

Did you ever think that maybe that person really enjoys using Ness and has a lot of fun playing on Final Destination? Of course not, because you can't even for a second think outside your own childish mentality of "What's fun for me is fun for everyone." I love playing with all characters, but I'm not about to insult people who pick one or two they really like and stick with them. If you don't like playing with them then play with the rest of us. No one forces you to be in that match after all.

It's more obvious to me that you cannot stand losing and have to make excuses for it. "Oh he kept picking Final Destination." "Oh I was picking different characters while he kept using the same one." Bull shit. I won a Brawl yesterday with Bowser with two stock remaining, had the most kills, and had over 200% more damage given than taken. Bowser. You can win with anyone so stop making excuses.

Let the poor guy you were playing have his fun and go find your own but don't act like a snob and insult him because he found something fun that you obviously don't.

When did I ever say you could never win with certain characters? I just said that most Nintendo/Brawl Fanboys are boring as drying shit when it comes to online gaming.  Which, I guess, should come as no real surprise since those are the same people that repeatedly buy newly identical Mario Party and Zelda games.  I, too, won a match with Bowser online once.

Also, congratulations, you also missed my point--it isn't about winning or losing, it's about variety and fun.  Lack of variety = no fun.  Some people like being bland.  That's their choice.  But it sucks because they're boringness effects others.  I just think it's pretty lame.  Strike that.  Really lame.  It's a shame that the few people who were fun to play against online were also seemingly discouraged by either the lack of variety of the majority of online Brawlers or the painful lag.  I think it's sad/funny that some of you get offended when you realize how boring you are by using the same character over and over again.

No, in the end of the day, I don't think as much about "Oh man, I really enjoy using Ness and will use him constantly" as it is "oh man, I'm only good with Ness and since I'm afraid to lose and/or overall just a pretty dull individual, I will only ever use Ness."  Ness is just an example, here.  But when I did actually care to play the game online, it seemed he was the most abused character in this regard.  Which is sad because all it took was some wanker to play as Ness for a bajillion hours in Melee and then just transfer over his skills to Brawl to stroke his puny ego.  The only new character I saw regularly lused was Pit because you could spam the hell out of his stand-still special.  Meta Knight occasionally appeared.  Marth users were typically as bad as Ness gamers.  The other thing that backs up this little theory of mine, is the fact that the very second one of these dullards lost a match, they dropped out from a second one.  When I lost, I kept playing, and I switched characters to keep the gameplay fresh.  I didn't drop out just because I lost.  This happened several times, in fact.  The guy using Ness over and over and over again would win every match, and when he lost one--he dropped out of the next fight.  Probably with tears in his eyes and a band-aid on his ego.

Overall, it is leading me to believe there is a problem with way too many Nintendo gamers in that they don't actually like variety or new things.  They accepted the Wii just because it was the new Nintendo system.  But they still only played Brawl with the GC controller and used their favorite character from Melee.  Every new Zelda game that is actually different and without Gannondorf (like the brilliant Majora's Mask) is regarded as stupid.  Every new Mario Party game is purchased regardless of the lack of creative "newness," if you will.  I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to Nintendo gamers.  I don't want a new Zelda game, I enjoy variety, I don't want a new Mario, Metroid, or Pokemon game.  I want new franchises, IP's, and games.  I want fresh experiences rather than the same old crap over and over again.  This is also evidenced by the fact that so many 3rd party games fare so poorly on the Wii and DS.  You can say that the quality of some of these 3rd party games is too low all you want, we all know you're (many of you) saying that while still buying even lower-quality in-house Nintendo titles.  Look how many people picked up trite like Mario Party 8.

And I'll likely just keep right on making fun of the boring Nintendo fanboys because they're part of the problem.  I would rather support Nintendo in a way that encourages them to continue being creative, rather than feeding the un-need for repetitive, tired gameplay experiences.  Like another built-by-numbers Zelda game, or a sequel that doesn't advance far enough from the previous game, like SSBB.  A lot of the fun of that started diminishing once I realized that it was little more than Super Smash Bros Melee 1.1.  The repetitive, anti-variety nature of a lot of the online gamers hastened SSBB's dulling of it's luster.

And yeah, haha, who the hell gets angry because of no items? =)

yeah i was, i couldn't figure how to make the font larger.  I remember when i used to play with items... My little bro gets so mad, because i make him take them off when we play.

I first saw your post inside my quote box. =P

I have no problems with items(They're fun), but using it as a reason as to why you're calling someone "assholes who feared variety or even the slightest injury to their immensley fragile egos" doesn't really work (Frankly, I don't think any of his reasons warrant that kind of name-calling). Talk about grasping for straws. Amirite? ^_^

I enjoy using the items and prefer them in Smash Bros.  But I've played against people who always--constantly--try to play with them turned off like they're desperate to force Smash Bros to be a "normal" fighting game.  Once or twice is fine and all, but always?  Damn, just shut off the individual items you don't particularly like.  There was a guy on another site that actually got mad at having items on the stage.  Like, he felt cheated if someone used an item to KO him, rather than a regular attack.  It seemed that he was always trying to force Smash Bros to be Virtua Fighter 2.

what is the point in playing with all the characters? That sounds boring to me. I'm having the most fun when I try to work hard and master my favorite character.

You are probably not going to want to play against me from the looks of things.

to me...playing without items is the funnest way.  Maybe it's not that way for you.  But that is why we have options to play with them on or off.  Also, thats why most of us don't play with people with items, because its not fun to us.
