Forums - Sony - Sony is about to win 2 generations in 1

I can buy PS4 winning the next generation on all fronts, taking into accounts the trajectories of the competition. And if PS3 continues to sell, it has a chance to overtake the Wii in sales (though I highly doubt that). But the idea that PS3 could "win" a generation if it catches up after all these years is kind of a stretch considering it made a lot less money than either the 360 or Wii.

People seem to forget how much the PS2 sold after the PS3 launched. I doubt it'll sell as much but the PS3 is still $250, plenty of room for a price cut over the next few years. And it has a great lineup this year, should easily reach 100 million.

the PS3 hasn't and won't win anything, have to wait and see when next gen is fully up and running about PS4

Ok as i see it this generation is over once the Xbox One and PS4 are released,so no matter if in 3 to 5 years time the PS3 passes the Wii it wont matter because that generation is already over! Its so bad when fanboys will jump in on such silly things to try to put other consoles down.

As i see it this generation goes to Nintendo in both Handheld and Console races ,not to say the Wii was the best console this generation (it was not) yet it had enough backers to win this generation. So once these next 2 consoles come out the door this generation is in the bag so quit letting your pride/fanboyism take over your brain and give credit where credit is due. Congrats Nintendo you won and made alot of money now lets get started on this upcoming gen this year when all systems are ago!

Live long and  prosper

1. Wii
2. PS3
3. 360

1. DS
2. PSP

Who gives two rats ass if Sony sells more 3-4 years from now ? That gen is already over and if people feel its not yet then it will be this holiday. Stop grasping at straws. The argument is fucking stupid at this point.

a console with a cheaper price will sell more?

My gawd!

In time, you will join me in the light. Anyway, that 37M lead that the Wii had is down to 22M now.

PS3 would have to sell a million units a month for the next 2 years. That's npt happening.

Guess how much they've sold on average per month since 2009?

And lucky for the ps3 it will be on the market for longer than 2 years

Look, I understand that Sony had a great showing at E3. Good for them. But that isn't going to magically make PS3 sell a ton of units out of nowhere.

This generation is over. People are looking at next-gen now. Typically, consoles don't really sell that well after they've been replaced.

I'll be more than happy if you come back to us when the PS3 stops selling so much week-in, week-out. Because apparently, next-gen started in Nov 2012 and people stopped caring about the  PS3 and, yet, the PS3 is still selling very well.

Not going to happen. Ironically, the PS4 launching at $399 is the main reason why the PS3 will not beat the Wii out for first place. The WiiU and X1 are also massive factors.

If we're "forgetting" that, you're surely forgetting the PS3 launched for $599. Huge difference!
