Makes sense to me. I thought Nintendo fans would side with sony after that conference, guess not.

Are you kidding me, I want Sony to have my babies after that conference.

I'm not going to buy their console, but still, I am in love with them right now.

I think it entirely comes down to price and whether you care about DRM.

The vast majority of consumers do NOT care about DRM. That, or they are unaware of its implications.

As such, the Xbox One will still perform very well due to (currently) better game offerings.

HOWEVER, Sony have found a FAR better entry price point than Microsoft, so expect them to outperform Microsoft in the near-term at least.

But any suggestion that Sony has this generation in the bag at this point is ridiculous. They had one genuinely hilarious moment in their conference which pro-Sony viewers used to gloss over the fact that they presented surprisingly few quality looking exclusives.

Indeed, it ultimately proved that the whole point of the comedic spiel at Microsoft's expense was simply to lay out a cover for the immediate announcement that Sony will charge for online, something they always maintained they wouldn't do.

This happens every year, Sony goes last (well, after Microsoft) and gets the last-mover media advantage. Then the months roll by and people realise that Microsoft had a pretty good idea what they were doing. Even more so this year given Microsoft's objectively excellent conference.

They have it in the bag.

$400 versus $500 and all multiplats looking better on PS4, no DRM etc.

PS4 is going to become the standard console immediately. It's gonna be 2:1.

It will win with a land-slide. Profitability is another topic, and I think MS' strategy is to really milk the relatively few customers they get, so in the end MS might make a lot more money.

Is it confirmed if you can upgrade HDD in xbox1 ps4? I'm guessing due to all games having to be force installed on xbox1 that HDD fill fill up quick. I wonder how long to install a game as nex gen bluray titles will be huge

The HDD in the Xbone can't be changed. If you need more space I think it supports external HDDs. I think Sony still haven't said anything about that matter on the PS4.

OT: I think in the Xbox One vs PS4 battle Sony has all what it takes to win. The console is cheaper, its online is also cheaper, their studios/IPs are better known (even thought they lack a killer IP like Halo), it has gone along with users about the DRM/used games debate and unlike theXbone it will sell in all territories (I'm talking about Japan).

I'd be very, very surprised if Sony doesn't win.

Meanwhile I already got a WiiU and have my PC, so for now I'm fine. I'll maybe get one in a few years.

But superchunk, doesn't the Xbox One have a better OS? In fact, it has got three of them. Why are you now telling us that gaming makes the difference?

Rol is a MS fanboy? I never get the sides right in VGchartz, thought you were neutral but sarcastic, like Jaywood.

Abyway, PS4 for me.

Rol is a very complicated creature :P The thing about the OS's is just more sarcasm. He tends to favour Nintendo though.

PS4 uses a standard laptop HDD (actually I think the same as the PS3). It can be replaced with a hdd of your liking.

You're right...

Let's just stop right there. ;)

I hope I am right and MS falls off quick.

I dont see how that helps anyone...look how quickly Sony starts sneaking new restrictions in if they get a monopoly on the high end.

Remember, just a few months ago you would 'never have to pay for online.'

Has it been confirmed?

I guessed they would still go with standard HDDs since that's what they did with the PS3, but MSoft also uses a standard HDD and yet it's in the console with no access to it to replace it.

Nvm, I found that Yoshida said so in his twitter.

I would agree with the sentiment that a lot of this will go over the heads of the average consumer. Most moms and CoD/Madden players have no idea what "DRM" is and they probably don't care about the 24-hour check-in policy.

However, what they MIGHT care about, and Sony would be smart to push this home, is that lending, trading, and renting with the PS4 is easy and simple. Buying and selling used games is easy and simple. That difference, if communicated to the masses, could be key.

I also want to comment on the thought that Sony won't have as many high-quality games as the XO. I honestly don't believe that will be the case, as there are still several World Wide Studios development teams who have yet to reveal their projects. I think this goes in-line with Sony wanting to no longer reveal new games too soon. This also leads me to believe that Sony's game releases will see a nice curve, so that they won't have a barren second year. I'm more than a little confident that they have some quality stuff for the future. I don't think they felt the need to pull everything out the way Microsoft did, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, but you are young. Young and naive.

So, Rolstopable. you are old and bitter? and, also, man, what Sony have to do to gain your cold hard heart? They gave us no DRM, no internet issues, no camera shenaningans and no used games fees, they gave us Driveclub for free and Gaikai PS3 libray for the americans. They gave us tons of games. Hell, they adressed every single issue LIKE MEN (not afraid little kids).

Granted, they made mistakes in the past, but companies change, people change. I know, I know, you are still mad at the PS3 launch, you are still mad at Pear harbor... But, they changed man, time to forgive. =D
