Reality check: Nintendo has region-locking, unfortunately, which is a form of digital rights management (and protectionism) if you will. They were the ones who invented it. And they still have no account system for digital purchases, which is rather unacceptable at this point in time. That said, neither of these two problems are anywhere near as bad or anti-consumer as what MS has in store, so I am willing to overlook them (even though their region locking of 3DS is really annoying for people who travel to different regions, and there is simply no justification). I have always enjoyed Nintendo's games and systems and am glad they are still around; the world of videogames would be much poorer without Nintendo games and Nintendo hardware. I just watched today's Nintendo Direct, and I have some faint hope that they'll be able to turn Wii U around. In about 6 months it should at last have a library of games to fully justify purchasing one.
