Both of them are "meh" but I'll give the edge to the PS4 as it is unique and well, smaller.
They are all ugly. I suppose I can get used to the PS4's design but right now I like it the least from the 3.

And that's all it really needs isn't it? Just like with the price and raw power, if it has an edge on everything it becomes the more interesting system all-round. The curving makes it atleast stand out from tv decoder or amplifier.

the backside is basically all vents on the PS4:

Wow, talking about vents! Ok, now we see where the air is going out, but from where does it go in?
And I see an optical, HDMI, lan and I don't know what is the other connection (an USB?). How many USB ports does it have?
Please excuse my bad English.

Wii U is plain and boring, and it doesn't look like much thought went into the design, round corners, like iPhone that'll do it... IMO of course
Xbone is boxy and boring with no real design aesthetic either, it seems their main design objective was making sure they got adequate ventilation... again IMO.
PS4 is odd looking, but you can see that they put some thought into its design, even to the point of making it somewhat reminiscent of PS2. Great design decision to make people think about a console for which they have fond memories, or great fear (not really fear, but for Nintendo and MS fans PS2 is the thing that ate their favoured console (at the time) for breakfast). Sony design team not only put some aesthetic thought into PS4 but also considered the psychological element in the designing of it. It's no accident that people think about PS2 when they look at PS4.
To someone who has no idea about consoles the reaction to the Xbone would be: meh, big black box. To Wii U it would be: some sort of electronic device. To PS4 it would be: hmm what's this curious geometric oddity?

as I have yet to see any other vents I suppose it goes in on the lower back side vents and comes out through the upper vents
the official specs list 2 USB 3.0 (at the front), HDMI, optical, lan as you said and then there is the "aux" input at the back, which might be a dedicated port for the PSEye
edit: had another look at the official specs and that confirms that the aux input is a dedicated port for the camera
All the rubber stuff reminds me of my old Pillowstation.
ALSO top secret picture of next console: SHHH! Don't tell anyone.
