How much would I spend in 3 years after owning an Xbox One?
Console - $500
XBox Live Gold - $60 x 3 years = $180
Extra Controller - $50 (estimate)
Games - $60 (conservative estimate) x 3 (very conservative estimate on the games I play) = $180 x 3 years = $540

$1270...so at least $1200, not including taxes, media subscriptions, or DLC on the first three years alone. God help me if it has to be repaired for anything.

Price in the UK is atrocious compared to the US. So far though, I might get. I'm interested in Killer Instinct. But I'm sure this is expensive for a lot of people.

It's expensive, but what did people expect? It comes with Kinect 2.0, and MS said they want a profit right off the bat. At $500 and yearly xbox live costs they will easily make it profitable.

The UK price is too high though, even considering all you have mentioned "£429". based on the US price, it should have been £385 and that is including 20% VAT in the UK.

Four hundred and ninety nine US dollars... and ninety nine cents. Does it mean in next gen we're stuck with current gen machines and Wii U? Given the announced prices my guess is X360 and PS3 will be viable platforms in years to come.
