Forums - Microsoft - What is the XBox One's advantages?

M$ invented Cloud Computing (processing same thing)? News to me buddy. Amazon had already beat them to the punch and so has google. Xbox's cloud computing uses Asure's services and servers so who's to say Sony can't ask amazon (Sony actually uses amazon aws as well as openstacks services for their gaming division) to create an infastructure for PlayStation cloud computing in the near future? It's not really that hard to impliment. You guys act as if Sony can't do it.

You did not even try to read the whole reply :) It was an edit issue... Microsoft did "not" invent, but the rest of the sentence assume that, you certainly jumped out of your chair a bit too quickly. My bad anyway!

For Gamers, Xbox One has not advantages whatsoever but the few exclusives (Forza, Halo, Gears of War...) it will have.

Unless you like to Skype while watching TV while ordering Pizza Hut.

It's still pretty early to tell into we are past E3 and getting to their releases when we will k ow so much more. At this point we know MS has 300,000 servers for the new Xbox live and we r pretty sure Sony doesn't have anything close to that or they would have been advertising it. At this point u can pretty much b safe to say XB1 will have a much more expansive online experience. We also know MS will be focusing heavily into cloud computing to enable much richer experiences in games and much more computing power than what's in the box. This will bring XB1 capabilities much further than the limit of the box. We know Sony has Gaikai but they specialize in game streaming not cloud computing and that is different. MS has undoubtedly been building their cloud computing infrastructure for quite some time now.

Even though many Sony fans seem to make the "cloud" argument out to b a joke for what it will do on XB1 it will enhance all experiences quite a bit.

I think it's still hard to judge everything now but in time we will know more. I think way too many people seem to be throwing MS under the bus too early without knowing what XB1 really will bring.

Cloud computing could be a real game changer. Still, some things to keep in mind...

1. No one said PS4 can't do something similar to that. Gakai tech is supposedly far more advanced than anything similar to it on the market. And Sony were the first to start pushing Cloud benefits in the gaming space.

2. How much benefit it can really hold is yet to be seen. Anything running through internet is limited by it.

3. How much will developers not in their exclusive camps really utilise it? If we have learned anything from this gen, is that Devs will ignore obvious benefit of one console if it means making the porting process more difficult or uneven. BluRay's advantages over DVD9 comes to mind, and the general fact the Cell's capabilities were largely ignored by most 3rd Parties.

Sony IS saying they are offering cloud benefits, starting in 2014:

http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/10/sony-will-launch-cloud-gaming-service-for-ps3-ps4-and-vita-in-2/

So, Sony says they get Cloud also.

I will also ask here again: Exactly WHAT advantages is the XBox One offering over the PS4, factoring in also it will be $100 more expensive? Can someone answer?

What I found ironic is the person who goes, "streaming is NOT the same thing as Cloud", when the reality is that Cloud enables streaming.  In the case of Onlive and Gaikai, cloud computing is absolutely essential.  It is just that Microsoft is yammering endlessly about it why Sony isn't.  Microsoft has to do this, because cloud is being touted as their secret sauce to remain competitive in the console wars.

It's a water cooler, what more of an advantage does it need?

LMAO!!! ha haha! I remeber that lady saying that at the reveal.

As far as advantages..... In my opinion, I still like the Xbone controller more than the ps4 controller. But it's not that big of a deal. I don't think it can really be considered an advantage.

There are some clear disadvantages in cost and daily check-in.

But the simple answer at this point is games.  Based off the conferences, the X1 will have more, better games.

The majority of Sony's conference was just banging on about big, but multiplatform games.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

1. Every xbox one game will have dedicated servers (a big plus)
2. This doesn't benefit gamers but in a way it does, now publishers will make money even if ppl buy a used game or not. That can mean in more sequels to games and overall more games. In a way that does benefit us all.
3. With the cloud we can have better looking games, the developers at Respawn said Titan Fall was not possible on xbox one without the cloud so that must mean the cloud does help with gaming. Microsoft has over 300,000 servers up just for this, i highly doubt sony has that money to do the same so cloud computing on Sony seems harder.
Also Microsoft and sony only announced 1 model and that is pretty weird. What if Sony has a model for $500 and microsoft has one for $400?

It's got no advantage over the ps4 . The ps4 has tons of advantage over the Xbox 1
