I think Sony will do wonderful this upcoming console generation with the PS4; and that will also enhance the sales ofthe VITA.

..on the other hand timed-exclusives, console specific DLC, split multi-player communities are all downsides. i hate the FUD sony and ms throw at each other. to get the "full" experience i have to get CoD on xbone but destiny on ps4?!? fuck that shit. ..and with more and more games being community based the split userbase sucks. more than just CoD/halo/uncharted should have a viable online communities. if ps4/xbone could somehow have cross-platform multiplayer (which it won't) us gamers would be rewarded for it. so yeah,.. or maybe at least. i guess what i'm saying is there are both pros and cons.
i also hate retailer specific pre-order bonuses. what the shit?!? |
Yes, the exclusive content crap also disturbs me. I can understand MS and $ony for doing it but we as a gamer lose content for sure with 3rd-party-games. But 1st-party-games definitely need competition to get even better in my opinion. Sad thing to me is the situation won't change ever. $ony and MS are just too big to fail in my opinion. Only solution - one company quits gaming :)
But overall I don't want such a situation. I want competition, I want to have a choice.

They seem to be making good decisions based on the current state of the industry. But the industry is changing very much right now which brings in a lot of unknown factors, so I can't really say they have anything locked.
Sony is in a position to do well next gen, but they have very little room for error. One slip up and it could screw them over big time.

Except it's not necessarily trolling.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/10/22/the-playstation-vita-is-set-to-succeed
We had many articles like this one back then. Look how it turned out...Praising a console before its (and the competitor's) release is dangerous.
However I do think the PS4 is in a good position to succeed. Unlike MS Sony managed not to completely fuck the PR up, devs seem to like the console, the specs are good, gamers also seem to like it so far.
I remember the same kind of threads/articles before Vita came out.
Not yet, I think the next years are going to actually be the hardest.
In the midst of a slow economy, and a shrinking console market, Sony needs the PS4 to be a success. Gaming division as lost SOOO much $$ over the PS3, and if the PS4 takes such a loss on hardware it ain't good. I mean of course we won't be seeing a 599 disaster, but still.
Vita will lose them $$ for a while if they want to keep it from irrelevance. I mean it was projected to be profitable able 3 years at a $250 price. I wonder what a $199 will force those projections to.
This is actually more of an uphill battle. Some people don't seem to understand that Sony is in the most precarious and unstable position of all the big 3 right now. They simply don't have the $$.

I don't know why everyone thinks the US is locked up. After totally dominating with the PS2, did you think PS3 had the US locked down?
The US do not have loyalties like that when it comes to gaming. They never have. |
You must of misunderstood my post...
