Forums - Microsoft - Update: Forza Motorsport 5 will run in 1080p at 60fps

I would be more surprised if it didn't run at 60 FPS and wasn't 1080p. At this point I'm expecting this type of resolution and FPS for most next gen games.

Is that running on final hardware? I think I heard they might have to underclock the CPU.....

I think I heard  this might not be true.

Killzone says hello :) But really, I think we won't see it that often. You can't have 1080p60 *and* more detailed graphics with higher polygon models and better lighting all together. The new consoles are powerful but can't do wonders in calculations.

Personally I'd be fine with 720p and decent AA.

What about after being optimized again and again towards/at the end of the gen? Sad that I'm thinking of it already?!?

You have to consider the amount of calculations. See, doubling framerate to 60fps form 30fps means poly-amout per frame is cut by half. 1080p-rendering is more than 4x the amount of calculations given many games this gen ran below 720p.

Also keep in mind many things we saw this gen were done by "tricks" - there were a lot of things which looked quite cool but would've been better if they were *really* calculated. Take, for example, shadows. There are still games where this is made so bad I could cry!

Again, textures. If you want a game to run at 1080p you better take care of good textures as it will be more obvious if they are low-res. Take Last of US - This game is a graphical masterpiece, yet sometimes the textures are really bad. It doesn't hurt the game in any way but it's obvious that ND couldn't keep the game on a standard throughout. This also shows in dropping framerates while playing.

The question is - what do gamers want? If you want 1080p60 for every game, be prepared that the jump won't be as high as many want. If you want better poly-models, better lighting, bigger worlds, better lod, better textures, be prepared for 720p or even less. With decent AA, this will still look good.

sound nice!!!

That video on gamespot was kinda interesting but come on Turn 10 at least you could have shown a bit of more footage of the game or at least gave them some more screenshots that aren't from the reveal trailer.

Just to be clear, AA is anti aliasing correct? I'm more than certain it is but other people? Who knows.

Oh yes, sorry, of course it is anti-aliasing! :)

Yea! I like 60FPS, well, until we get to 120FPS.

Can't wait to see this in person!

The eye can't read over 60 frames per second.

Mine Can!  And many people can perceive it even if they don’t actively understand what is funky about it.  About 1-3% of the population of the USA can see 60FPS and a few above that.

And some parts of some people’s eyes can see 200Hz. (I.E. 200FPS! – but that would just be black/white/grey only not color at the speed.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
