Forums - Gaming - Microsoft cancels post-E3 roundtable.

Here's a post from GAF, from 'famousmortimer', a member who has some contacts in the industry:

"I mentioned the other day that I was hearing rumors of Microsoft throwing around a considerable amount of money to have publishers only show games on the Xbox One during E3. Most people dismissed my admittedly flakey news as 'that's what always happens.'

I've talked to more people since then though and this isn't the usual jostling for publishers on stage that happens at E3. Microsoft is throwing BIG money around to reverse course on idea that they aren't a games console. The rumors are that PS4 versions of multiplats, by those who do take the money, won't be shown AT ALL. Not on stage and not on the show floor.

I don't feel bad for Sony because business is business. I'm sure they will find a way to have a decent show... or they will have to recover afterwards. That's not really my concern.

Now, there's no need to take my word on this if you don't want to. But do keep an eye on E3 next week. With them buying up everything in sight and now potentially cutting an open roundtable out(to assumedly talk one on one with friendly press) and word that finding multiplat games on the ps4 on the show floor will be much harder than anticipated.... just keep an eye on it. Maybe my sources are wrong. But I feel confident enough in this info to share it.

I'm not saying to jump to conclusions. I'm just saying it may be something to keep an eye on."

...Is anyone else finding a little scary?

Faked UI, bad yields/downclocking, paying off E3, the sheer clusterfuck surrounding this E3/8th gen is getting me nervous in general.

(No wonder Nintendo chose to leave out the conference they ain't having none of that)

e3 doesn't matter to MS.
What does matter is late night with Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen, and Conan

getting a little bit tired of knee jerk BS like this.

reported.

Reported? Good luck with that.

I will never get moderated for that.

I was actually saying that in defense of MS.
The market that will sell the xb1 and disrupt is the tv market, who watches TV SHOWS like Ellen and Conan, and not e3, where gamers watch livestreams on internet backalleys. Sorry for being objective, Kow.

don't worry, he only sounds pissed, i asked him twice, and he personally told me he loves every second of it

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

This does not bode well, and only MS fans could (will) try and spin this into something positive... They should have their shit together and should be able to answer any question asked them. Not being able (or wanting to) is not in any way positive.

I doubt anyone will try to spin it into something positive...

But that doesnt mean its terrible either.

Maybe they are sick and tired of moronic gaming journalists (fanboys)?  I dunno why they have done it... neither do you.

Most journalists actually seem to be either Sony fan boys or MS fan boys... This is the first time I've seen MS taking a major bashing from journalists.

What they should have done (imo) is having that roundtable meeting and winning over the media again. If they mess up for a second time they'll need to do as much damage control as possible from the get go, so that roundtable would have been a good idea.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The 8th gen has had a pretty bad start, that's for sure. All the talk about DRM/used games plus a bad macro economic environment..it's depressing.

I keep thinking this gen will be seeing a market contraction (except in some emerging markets, where gaming, including console gaming, is growing a lot every year)...but overall, I think this industry will have a pretty nasty, tough time ahead....hope I'm wrong.

This is good.

After the reveal, MS employees were bombarded with questions they werent equipped to answer.

This will ensure it doesnt happen again.

................................................................................................ no comment. You left me speechless. I have no speech. Apparently MS doesn't either.

MS skipping e3 confirmed? :)

This is actually the opposite of what Nintendo is doing, going with less interaction in their e3 format. I think this is a bad move. Gaming journalists want to be able to ask questions and provide content that consumers can't get from a game trailer.

I would say this is because they know they would be getting some hard questions that they don't want to answer, or are now contemplating changing the answers.

This is good if all the big questions are answered during the presentation or in a press release, so no higher up is able to srew it up in a roundtable. This is bad if any of the big question remain unclear after the event and/or corresponding press release, because people will assume the worst case scenario and that is bad PR for the company.

Remember, Microsoft are going to kill Sony at E3.

Perhaps they meant that literally.  There's going to be no roundtable because they'll all be facing murder charges.

Hahaha. Well said.

OT: MS, get your stuff together.
