I am not a tech-guy, so here is my question:

The Xbox One is powerful, but not the most powerful machine the world has ever seen. MS did not hire idiots for hardware engineering, why are there heating issues? When I see the Surface pro for example, it comes in a much smaller package with a i5 CPU, 4 GB RAM plus a lot of basic-stuff a tablet needs (Full HD screen, 128 GB storage, Bluetooth, WiFi, USB 3.0, speaker, 2 built in cameras, etc). All this in a 900g, 0.53" thin device.

So what exactly makes a console struggle, when there is WAY more space for the hardware and a big fan? Sure there is a disc-drive and a more powerful GPU, but why is this a problem these days? If you say a console is not a SoC: Why not? (I don't even know if it is)

As I said I am not a tech-guy at all and this might sound stupid, but it would still be cool if you could educate me. It is just strange that we get smaller devices getting more and more powerful and a much bigger non-portable device is getting problems.

"The Xbox One is powerful, but not the most powerful machine the world has ever seen. MS did not hire idiots for hardware engineering, why are there heating issues?"

Because they pack APU *and* esram *and* memory-controller into one package, that's why. Remember? 5 billion transistors... And no, it is not an soc: This would include the whole system on the chip but there are still other things "outside" the main-chip: RAM, SHAPE, north-bridge...

So why did MS go this way then?

They took a bad gamble thats why. Rumor says that MS wanted to go with ddr4 and edram but the former is delayed so they had to take the route of ddr3+move+esram.

Well yeah, I wasn't meaning that Xbone=Wii U now. What I was wondering (and I am also far from being a Techxpert) is that we already knew the PS4 was notably more powerful that Xbone, so we already know it's PS4>Xbone>>Wii U. But with this alleged (not sure I really believe it myself, I think it's as likely to be FUD as it is likely to be true) additional drop in performance I'm wondering if thigs will end up more like PS4>>Xbone>WiiU. Which then encourages 3rd parties to develop at the Xbone>Wii U end of town rather than the PS4>>XBone end. Just so we get the conext of the highly precise >, >>, >>> grading system a current gen comparison might be PS3~X360>>>>Wii, purely on tech specs.

I'm hoping we've seen the last of Kratos. While I've loved every game I'm ready to move on to the next action-adventure-Hack'n'Slash game SSM can cook up, unconstrained by the chains of Kratos.  I want this chick to get her own game (and a bra).

Like I said above, since the PS4 and One are built on the same archtitecture but PS4 is alleged to have double the raw processing power, games that run at 720p 30 fps onn One would run at 1080p 60 fps on the PS4. Xbox One would get graphically less intensive ports in the same way PS360 gets graphically less intensive ports of PC games currently.

Don't worry guys, the cloud will make it 4x more powerful, making this a non-issue.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

LOL. Plenty people have a hard time quickly streaming high definition videos. Imagine having to stream multiple high-definition 3D models, ai, textures, etc :O.

I have a feeling during E3 most people will ignore the problems on the xbone and pay atentio to Call of Duty: Ghosts and it's exclusive DLC :/

Again rumor says that MS wanted to go with ddr4 and edram but the former is delayed so they had to take the route of ddr3+move+esram. It seems to me that this is a major failed gamble by microsoft. While Sony seems to be paying Mark Cerney well for his work :D
