Can someone out there remake this game already? 3D Realms, I'm looking at you...

Its easily one of the 5 best SHUMPs ever made and 5 best games "you" didn't play... ("You" being the majority of todays gamers)

While it was stunning graphically in 1994, it would need a graphics overhaul and some gameplay TLC to brind it up to 2013 standards. (such as upgradable weapons after purchase and more enemy variety). Otherwise the game is 80% there in terms of current gen gameplay.

Also, musically this game was quite amazing and has a huge following and many fan made remakes and remixes which should be utilized in the remake.

having never played it i have no nostalgia and the video didn't look too special by todays standards. that said i love the shump genre and this gen i think most of the shumps released were side scrollers instead of top down. i'd be in for a good top down shump.

..now if only i could get a sequel to ikaruga.

I don't know how it would be possible to beat Ikaruga and deliver a better sequel...and I think Treasure knows it.

In terms of Raptor and it appeal when it came out in 1994, it had pretty crazy graphics for the time with top notch gameplay and weapons upgrade system like no other at the time. It was bloody hard too but since then every shooter has been hard lol.

yeah, probably not.  i just watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIxKjmrCrS4 and o.m.g it is just sooo amazing.  i don't ussually like watching other people play but i it just so damn impressive.

yeah, it's hard to put myself back in the shoes of 1994 to give proper credit.  watch your screwattack and raptor/un squadron are the only onesi hadn't played lol.  wish there were more/better shumps out this gen.  i think sine mora was the best one and that doesn't really set the bar terribly high.

Why aren't you happy with the 2010 version by dotemu? Some games should be left alone.. And no.. Its not top 5 of SHUMPS.. Maybe top 15.. But not top 5..

strange enough all the shumps were for the 360 this gen... (and iOS) i think only Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype,  Galaga Legions DX and Space Invaders Infinite Gene are also on  the ps3

I love this game! And no, doesn't need a remake. The original is still lots of fun and they'd just screw up the game if they remade it. At least they'd screw up the music, games these days have just boring ambient music and maybe a few grand scores for some "epic" moments. Also, I can already imagine all the DLC weapons...

It has upgradable weapons after purchase, primary and a secondary weapon with two modes of fire, plus two side weapons and a secret one. And different ships, shields and energy generators. Every planet has different items for purchase. Some items (usually the best ones) are extremely hard to find, normally in secret planets.

This game was amazing! I only ever played the first episode. Brilliant stuff!

Yeah I only ever played the demo on my Dad's P100. Good game though.
