each one has surpassed the previous in the series. Not only that, nintendo is now releaseing it on their future handheld now because of its great popularity. Even on the gc it managed to grow an audience. Why is it that this series continues to grow?

Are you trying to be unique and special or what.

because it's that damn good.

Because SSBM was an improvement in every way to SSB

And SSBB is more of a function of the Wii's installed base compared to Gamecube.

SSB4 will be much lower if Wii U doesn't pick up even if it's equal to SSBB/SSBM.

The growth between the N64 version and the GC version occured simply because the GC version was superior on all fronts:

- Much more characters and stages
- Faster gameplay
- Adventure, Event, All-Star and Tournament mode (among many others) were introduced
- Trophies were introduced
- Ganondorf was playable


Super Smash Bros. Brawl messed things up a little with the awful Smash Ball and somewhat slower gameplay. But they made up for some of it with the level editor, replay saves and Subspace Emissary. In the end I'd say that the sales would have ended up slightly below Melee levels if it wasn't for the Wii's relatively massive hardware numbers.


As long as the series keep evolving while maintaining its core (which was shaken by the aforementioned Smash Ball), its popularity should keep growing.

Not at the rate the WiiU is selling. Without a big install base, whatever is next is going to have a tough time finding an audience.

A new Nintendo fan is born every day.

Because the series is just this good.

It's probably one of those timeless games that you can play with your friends over and over and over again. Kinda like the older Tekken's.
