Forums - PC - Shoot'em ups available on PC (Last ten years)

Hi Guys. I'm quite new around these parts and this is my first post. Got back to PC gaming after a 4 years hiatus and would like to ask a favor to all: can you name good Shoot'em Ups available for PC in the last ten years? They are one of my favorite genres, but actually not many people seem to care about them anymore.

I would like games that look and play like:

Axelay

Truxton

Elemental Master

R-Type

LifeForce

And so on.

Any help with indications will be apreciated.

Tyrian. It's older than that, but it doesn't matter.

Plus plenty of doujin shooters, like Touhou.

Tyrian is a freeware nowadays, isn't it? If so, so much better. And thanks for the info.

Just checked gog.com and it's free. I'm not sure if the awesome SoundBlaster 32 music is available in the 2000 version, though.

I am currently playing exceed 3(danmaku, vertical) wich is quite good and available in english.

Check out the doujin scene, there are often new awesome games available

I think I remeber having played one of those games, perhaps "Embodiement of Scarlet Devil". There was no translation so I would only start shooting LOL. I'll check this Exceed 3, thanks. As for the doujin, are the downloads safe? Is there a place you find certificate .exe files or ones tested by reliable people?
