What is wrong with giving people freedom to select the gender of the baby they want? Choosing the gender of a baby is just like choosing a house, car, pet, clothes what to eat or drink. There is nothing wrong with promoting freedom of choice. 

Yes, it is wrong. A gender is not a severe mental disease which would be painful both for the eventual child and the parent(s) to deal with. I say sexism is wrong. And this is wrong for the very same reason. Aborting a child based on eye color would also be wrong in my book.



But it should still be allowed. Discouraged, but allowed.

It should not be illegal, because the reason for an abortion shouldn't be asked.

As a course of action, abortion should never be taken lightly, and i would certainly say "well, we wanted a boy" as "taking it lightly," so yes.

Abortion needs to exist as an option, but society should be more proactive in making sure as few are performed as necessary.

Pretty much what has been happening in China for a while.

It may sound horrible, but I feel it is the best thing. I have known couples that both had no interest in raising one gender or the other. In each case they have done things that I think are really messed up. It has resulted in the boys being treated much more femininely, the girls being asked to do more male oriented activities, or in one case just the minimal attention payed to the child.

Most people say that if this is the way they feel they should just not have any children to begin with, but I say hogwash. In the cases were these people had kids that they wanted they were treated so well, and had so much love from their parents that they know they can do anything and always have the blessings of their parents.

To me this is the same thing as forcing people to raise mentally illl, or disabled children. It is a waste of resources, and a burden to people that could be making life better for others. Hopefully one day we can get the right people to the right places were they will be with people that want to take care of them, and they can have the best upbringing possible.

I think it's morally wrong to have an abortion purely because of gender, but I don't think it should be illegal.

So I've voted yes it's always wrong, because I personally don't consider a child's gender an appropriate reason to terminate a pregnancy. But if the question meant should it be illegal, no it shouldn't.

We have free abortions in the UK, I don't agree with that. I think they should be free for certain reasons (rape, debilitating disabilities or because a parent would not be in a position to give the child a suitable upbringing), but there are cases where abortions are used as a form of contraceptive and if that is the case, they should foot the bill, not the NHS.

no just don't play with the balance of nature and just learn to love both genders as they are both human for gods sake!

Considering that abortion in general is a horrific act it goes without saying that yes selective abortion is wrong.

Remember folks 94 Percent of abortion occur due to lack of want yet all we ever hear about from pro abortions folks is rape or insest.

Lack of want is a perfectly legitimate reason.
