Forums - Microsoft - Wouldn't this be a good use of the Kinect?

there are better uses for kinect

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Well, since it uses your face to check your ID, will it not be set by the parental controls?

So it will figure out who you are, then whatever levels it is set to will be who it lets have acess.

Interesting idea, but I think it would freak too many people out.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Kinect can recognize people, but is it time tested? A child may look appreciably different from one year to the next. Also, what if the child put on a mask or something to that affect? How good is it really at detecting people?

People seem to be assuming that this means the Kinect would automatically "detect" minors and block them from playing M-Rated games.

Rather than the much more feasible possibility of using it to aid Parental Controls. You know, Kinect will recognize certain family members... parents tell it not to play for certain ones... bam, no big brother, just parents.

Seems reasonable compared to what's already being done with Kinect.

This is a much better idea, as i didn't know kinect could calculate age?

Some 15 year olds look 18, so 21 year olds look only 16, that would be annoying, getting blocked even if your old enough because your kinect 'thinks' your not old enough.

What if they judge the age by height?

Sorry, Tyrion...
