I'm not saying it isn't true... but it doesn't really matter until its demonstrated.

Well, it is nice to know that the potential is there.

The Wii had potential that was rarely taken advantage of.

We keep hearing the Wii U has a powerful GPU, but I'm really doubting we'll ever see a Wii U game that blows away the best looking 7th gen games.

The WiiU is on his own Nintendo generation, not in the next gen race. It will sell 20 million copies or so, but it will give Nintendo a good profit still. That is all that matters =D

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Of course WiiU isn't next gen...

It doesn't have mandatory game installs, DRM, gesture and voice based camera control, cloud computing and other things next gen gaming is all about.

I wish I could favorite a quote, because that would be one I'd add.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

If it can match or slightly exceed beautiful games like The Last of Us and Halo 4, in same the way the Wii slightly exceeded the 6th gen's best, I'll be happy with that.

It would be more appropriate to compare the Wii U to the 3DS.  Initially, the 3DS's capability was scrutinzed as being less or at most equal to the PSP despite having 2-4x  more RAM and a more modern GPU and CPU than Sony's previous handheld.  It wasn't until games like RE:Rev, Kid Icarus, and Luigi's Mansion did it become more apparant that the system was more capable.  Sheesh the fact that the Wii U is rendering 2 images in real time(one in HD) should give a hint on the systems capability!

I believe the GPU is more powerful. It was said that the graphics card was based off the radeon e6760 embedded gpu, which had performance better performance than the radeon hd4870- a card this ass till no slouch today. definitely better than the xbox 360 radeon 2000 series gpu. developers should be ashamed for not even trying on the wii u. WATCH Retro shut everyone up!!!

Current Gen= Gamecube
Wii U= Xbox

The Wii U architecture is very similar to the Xbox 360. I find it hard to believe that this deficit in visual quality is somehow the developers' fault. My guess is that its probably the slow CPU that is bottlenecking the entire system. Even though most video games(especially console ones) aren't cpu intensive, 3 cores at 1.25GHz is just too little.

For the tablet controller to fit in with the system, and the product to stay below a certain price point, sacrifices had to be made obviously.

I think its been shown in quite a number of games. Even Nintendo land showed superior lighting and AA compared to current gen titles of the same aesthetic. People just ignored it because its cartoony. Its particularly evident in the Plaza, but its hard to find good HD pics...
