Miyamotos Father actually started Squaresoft.

Wow! I didn't know that Miyamoto's father was younger than Miyamoto himself! That truly is a fun fact! :P

Masashi Miyamoto, founder of Squaresoft, was born in 1957. Shigeru Miyamoto was born in 1952. They are unrelated (refers to founder of Squaresoft as Miyamoto Musashi).

I knew all 14.

If I would have been Nintendo I would have bought 2% of Rare for a total of 51% but I guess Rare said BUY ALL OR BUY NOTHING. Since Nintendo only needed 2 more pecent and not 51 the declined.

That is also the only plausible reason for Nintendo not "owning" Rare now.

guys its a joke. I just wanted to see how many wiki and see miyamoto a go with it.

I did not know that Nintendo of America owns a baseball team, and that Retro was bought for only 1 million! Amazing investment.

I knew about the whore houses...lol. Those Japanese.

I have to admit, you had me until I wiki'd it lol.

I know two, but aren't especifically from Nintendo...

1.- Miyamoto often had nightmares regarding glitches in The Legend of Zelda.

2.- When finished the development for Ocarina of Time, they started creating an expansion for it (Don't remember the name). One of the developers didn't agree with this direction, and Miyamoto challenged him to create a Zelda game within a year in order to scratch this expansion project. Thus here was born Majora's Mask.

Fun facts involving names:

* Satoru Iwata's name, interpreted in a fun way, translates to "Smart rocky field"
* Shigeru Miyamoto's name, interpreted in a fun way, translates to "Luxuriant library"
* Reggie Fils-Aime's name, interpreted in a fun way, translates to "Powerful prince"
* Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, was actually named after the princess in Legend of Zelda. I believe one of his sons was also named after a video game character, but I don't recall which one or who he was named after.
* The princess herself was named after Zelda Fitzgerald (famous wife of writer F Scott Fitzgerald)
* Mario was named after Nintendo of America's warehouse landlord, Mario Segale. Contrary to popular belief, his name is not Mario Mario.
* Contrary to popular belief, "Gannon" is a valid spelling of the name of the main antagonist of the Zelda series.

Did you know that:

2. Nintendo owns 1.73% of Namco-Bandai

14. In 1973, Nintendo almost declared bankruptcy due to the oil crisis and ongoing recession in Japan leaving Nintendo 64 million US in debt. *Nintendoomed*

Did you know any of the above?

I didn  not know about these!

But it's ironic #14 "Nintendo 64 million". Sounds familiar??? O.o

Did you know that:

1. Nintendo was founded in 1889 as a card company

2. Nintendo owns 1.73% of Namco-Bandai

3. Mario first appeared in the Donkey Kong Arcade game in 1981

4. Mario's first stand-alone game was released in 1983 as an arcade game known as Mario Bros.

5. Nintendo owns the Seattle Mariners

6. Nintendo's name, translated from Japanese to English, is known as ''Leave luck to heaven''

7. In 2002, Nintendo purchased Retro Studios for 1 million U.S., making them officially a first-party studio.

8. Nintendo does not handle nor own the Pokémon franchise.* In 1998, the Pokémon Company was established by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc., to handle the marketing, distribution and licensing of the Pokémon franchise. Nintendo holds a 32% stake in the Pokémon Company.

9. The Super Mario franchise has sold more than 240 million at retail - if one would include other Mario entries and its spin-offs, it would place the plumber at half a billion video game sales.

10. Pokémon video game sales have eclipsed 200 million as of 2010.

11. Rare or Rareware, was once partly owned by Nintendo, holding a 49% stake in the company. The Stamper Brothers, the company founders, who owned 51% of the company back then, wanted to sell their remaining stock to Nintendo; however, the company declined as they did not see the need to increase their ownership. As a result, the Stamper Brothers decided to sell their remaining shares to Microsoft which in turn made Microsoft the largest shareholder with voting power - Nintendo sold their shares to Microsoft shortly after the transaction.

12. Nintendo had also ventured in love hotels and cab services before becoming a video game company only.

13. Link's design is inspired by Peter Pan.

14. In 1973, Nintendo almost declared bankruptcy due to the oil crisis and ongoing recession in Japan leaving Nintendo 64 million US in debt. *Nintendoomed*

*Nintendo however does own certain trademarks affiliated with the Pokémon franchise.

Did you know any of the above? Feel free to add Nintendo fun facts as well :)

.....DAMN. I wonder how much Monolith cost.

Also...this makes M$ taking Rare seem like a bad joke. Here, I'll give you Rare for 400 million. While I just buy up Retro for .25% of that mmk?

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)
